The Woven Pixel exhibition opens this Thursday at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles! I am honored to have multiple pieces in this show, along with some true weaving idols.
Curated by @sarahvmills , this show mainly honors the contributions made by Bhakti Ziek and Alice Schlein with their pivotal book *The Woven Pixel* (2006).

Exciting announcement! I am currently an artist-in-residence at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles @sjmqt this fall, where Iโve been rebuilding @tienychiu 's Tc2 digital jacquard loom from the ground up with the help from the incredible @louisekatzovitz@tienychiu and @steveryul . It's been quite the process, and continues to be - still threading my warp through the heddles ๐ iykyk.
Iโll be giving an artist talk next Saturdayโcome by to learn more about the process and how I've been approaching it.

Felt so lucky to attend the Digital Weaving Conference in Norway this summer with some very special people. Celebrating the 30th year for @digitalweavingnorway and its founder @vibeke.vestby couldn't have been more fun.
It is so heartwarming when this community comes together, passionate nerds of woven structure <3

A lil doc showing a piece of my process from my old studio in Ithaca NY. We have since moved from Ithaca, but I will forever hold dear this space. I learned so much here and was able to deeply focus my practice in big ways. This is where my first dobby loom lived, me and my solenoids clacking away until the wee hours of the night.
For the weavers seeing this, I fixed my shed height - She a little small in this vid ๐

After traveling across the country last fall, I got to visit @lee_jae_bum in Seoul at Duksung women's university. We are both alumni of @risdtextiles and it was so great to finally see his work in person. He has such an interesting process incorporating painting with the functionality of the dobby loom, both on and off the loom manipulations. Thankful to also see studentโs weaving studios and the beautiful area surrounding the campus.

Continuing from the previous post, feeling very lucky for my textile tour across the country- after Chicago, I saw a few more heavy hitters.
Grateful to see @poppydeltadawn at @ku_textiles and see their studio and textile facilities! I also got to give a really fun talk to her weaving class. So excited to see what you are cooking up at the @unstabledesignlab You made Kansas so much fun!
@ldevendorf and @ee_teetee_ay at the @unstabledesignlab plus getting to see @oak_bloak made Colorado incredible. Was so fun to see the lab and the loom and little pieces of fun scraps from @etmeikle 's residency. Plus Maxโs boulder mural and @steveryu_ living his best life in the mountains

In the fall of last year, I visited many talented weavers as I traveled across the country. I feel so lucky to have these lovely friends to visit along the way! First stops in Chicago were The Weaving Mill and LMRM ๐งถ
Emily and her crew at The Weaving Mill are doing such incredible work and it was so great to visit her and Westtown Center. Long ago I had the privilege of vacuuming mouse poop off of yarn cones (was actually a great time) and it was so nice to see the space all these years later still going strong. Hot tip, Westtown Artist Residency Project (w.a.r.p.) applications at the Weaving Mill are open for this summer! Deadline April 1st.
It was my first time visiting LMRM- Hope and Murat are doing some real heavy lifting to make this beautiful and HUGE Tc2 accessible- and are doing so in the most thoughtful of ways. Seeing that thoughtfulness has definitely impacted how I want to design my studio so that I take more breaks, and encourage mindfulness in the production of work. I am definitely trying to plan when I will be able to come back and do some weaving <3
