✨ᴛʜᴇʀᴇꜱᴀ✨ ʜᴀᴋ✨ ᴋʏᴜɴɢ ✨ᴄʜᴀ✨: ✨ᴍᴜʟᴛɪᴘʟᴇ ᴏꜰꜰᴇʀɪɴɢꜱ ✨ January 24–April 19, 2026 @bampfa How amazing to be working in the same studios and buildings that Theresa Hak Kyung Cha first began developing her work! @ucberkeley_artpractice ..... ✨Theresa Hak Kyung Cha: Multiple Offerings is the first retrospective in twenty-five years dedicated to the groundbreaking artist Theresa Hak Kyung Cha (1951-1982). Best known for her genre-defying publication Dictée (1982), Cha developed an interdisciplinary practice-drawing on Korean history, French literature, and global cinema-that spans text-based media, performance, film, and video. Cha was born in Busan, South Korea, and immigrated to the United States in 1962. Between 1969 and 1978, she studied at UC Berkeley, earning four degrees in art and comparative literature. ✨Keenly attuned to the role of audiences in shaping meaning, Cha embraced nonlinear structures and open-ended modes of interpretation—a process she described as "Multiple Telling with Multiple Offering." ✨Thank you to @victoriasung @tausifnoor for curating such a necessary show. >>> 🔥Art Practice Major @astr1ficus will host a gathering-performance this Wednesday April 15 at 5:30 pm @bampfa >>> 📖 And of course you can't miss Art Practice Prof. @ssyjuco Present Tense (Roll Call), 2025 in the entrance of the building.

Aaand we are back from Spring Break! Photos from our first 🖤𝙿𝚁𝙸𝙽𝚃 𝚡 𝙲𝙻𝙰𝚈🖤Screenprint Transfer Workshop we had just before break. ✴️We screenprinted @speedball_ceramics underglazes onto newsprint and transferred them onto clay cups thrown by mechanician Ehren Tool. We also experimented with drawing with underglaze pastels and pencils onto newsprint and transferring them onto clay.🏺 ✴️Thanks for everyone who joined us, and for those that missed out, we will do it again next semester! Thanks to @blue__prints , Tamar , @ehrentool and @_cathyclu_ for organizing this lovely event. @ucberkeley_print #ucbclay 👀👀If you were in the workshop, look out for an email for us on when to pick up your work!

🚗We took a field trip to LA to see 🅼🅴🅰🅽🆂 🆃🅾 🅰🅽 🅴🅽🅳, the 81st Scripps College Ceramic Annual, curated by @ucberkeley_artpractice alum @adrenieline 🥰 This is the longest continuous exhibition of contemporary ceramics in the United States. This exhibition considers contemporary artists’ enduring fascination with clay, a medium that demands precision, patience, and resilience. The artists in this exhibition embrace clay’s challenges, using ceramics as a springboard for innovation and dialogue across diverse media. 👏 Congratulations to our Advanced Studio Critique Program (ASCP) students! Their show is currently on view until Nov 7th. Don’t miss it! @worthryder Through installation, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, and mixed media, the artists engage in practices of refusal, remembrance, and repair. Their work moves beyond self-expression, offering instead a mode of critical witnessing; an insistence on visibility that does not flatten but complicates. These are individual explorations that, when brought into proximity, generate a kind of fugitive kinship: a conversation between the intimate and the structural, the body and the state, and the now and the not-yet. Visitors are invited to look, linger, and consider how aesthetic practice becomes a site of both survival and transformation. The exhibit features work by: Bella Damberger Fiona Joy McDermott Grace Meindl Julie Kaliuga M Surh Mychael Imi Kama Loa Vittoria Mann Nathaly Garcia Perez Noa Soriano Nora Rose Slaughter 🐻About ASCP: 📍A total of 9 undergraduate senior Art Majors will be accepted to the program each semester 📍 This is a non-assignment based program that encourages self-directed and motivated students to fully explore their work as emerging artists. 📍This program is for Art Practice majors in or entering their Senior year for the semester they are applying for. 📍Deadline 10/30 at 5pm! Contact Professor Mores McWreath for more info.
