This pair of Dolphin Horses is up at the Scripps College 81st Ceramics Annual through early April- go check it out if you're in the LA area 🐬🐎🌿 both available through @track16gallery
Plus two little bits about the state of things, which are, well, you probably know how they are if you've been paying attention. Love your neighbors, love your friends, be brave, and remember that it's ok that things are complicated. They always have been.
Installation views of my work in Means to an End, the 81st Scripps Ceramics Annual on view now through April 5 @ruthchandlerwilliamsongallery
I had such a lovely time at the opening. Much appreciation to curator @adrenieline and the staff at Scripps for making the stacks of found tables happen, and @track16gallery for taking care of my work and taking these photos 🪩 always so immensely grateful to get to make and show art
Welcome year of the Fire Horse 🔥🐎... which is supposed to mean a much needed change of pace. I could use it- Ask me how I'm doing? I'm fantastic, man (sarcastic) and simultaneously I'm Fantastic Man (alter ego). I'm too burned out (pun intended) to produce good reels so enjoy these explosive horses to the new @whitedenimmusic single (plus screen grab of their new video in the last frame). I recommend listening to the new song and watching the video. Available wherever you get your media. It's a vibe 🔥
Debra Broz’s “Weight of the World” was a knock out at the 81st Scripps Ceramic Annual at the @ruthchandlerwilliamsongallery curated by @adrenieline . And kudos to Erin Curtis and the whole team there!
Siamese Cat Giraffe will be included in and installation of my work in Means to an End, the Scripps College 81st Ceramics Annual opening this Saturday from 7-9 at the Ruth Chandler Williamson gallery in Claremont just outside LA. See you there 🤎
The Scripps College 81st Ceramics Annual opens Feb 7. This creature and many others, all arranged on stacks of found tables, will be a part of the show. I'll be in LA for a minute for the opening- see you there. Thanks to T for gathering tables and being on top of everything, Reniel del Rosario for including me in this show, Track 16 gallery for their help with work transport, and the support staff at Scripps.
I was listening to a book about neurodivergence recently and it mentioned neurodivergent people often feel like they are aliens. I've often felt like that and just assumed everyone does at some point. When I have felt most at home I have been surrounded by others who I am sure also regularly feel like aliens, people who are strangers in a strange land, the misfits of the dominant culture, and I feel tremendously lucky that I get to surround myself with these folks rather than folks who are so obsessed with being "normal" that they strip all the unique stuff out of their lives. As this administration tries to cram conformity and repression down our throats just remember that everything good in life from art to music to food to nature is the product of nonconformity. Maybe someday I'll return to my real home planet but for now, we must all be weird here together. Also, abolish ICE ✨️
Happy New Year plus a little 2025 art recap-- watching the loss of human rights and aid this year has been nothing less than devastating and it feels difficult to celebrate accomplishments in the wake of unnecessary destruction, but/and. Resilience must persist.
