The work currently on display in the cases outside of the @worthryder shows the complete portfolios developed and exchanged by printmakers in Art 120: Intaglio. Artists in each group collaborated on concepts, writing and process before editioning and trading these works, which is a modern-traditional printmaking practice. They’re up through graduation- come see them in person! Themed portfolio spotlight:
“Migration/Movement”
Evelyn Soller; Blu McCormick, Yulieth Aguilar; Karis Hwang
“Throughout history, migration has been defined by distinctive mass movements of ethnic groups, nationalities, animals, and so on. Although distinct, these paths remind us of the connective nature of migration, particularly as these journeys are continuously marred by clear political obstruction. What is the significance of outlawing movement? Where can one go and what is preventing us from doing so?
Migration/Movement attempts to draw connecting lines between the movement of humans, birds, and all creatures who travel from one place to another. As climate change disrupts the path of migration and borders halt the travel of humans, questions arise about the impacts of controlling and altering movement. Artists in this portfolio are encouraged to contemplate on personal ties to the concept of migration and tie them to broader themes of pattern and the occupation of space.”
