🥚 TROUGH05 was important and eggcelent 🥚 Thank you to everyone who came and performed and danced and hunted eggs and raised £715 for @sistermidnightldn - all money raised will go to the refurbishment costs of their new community owned music venue in Catford. Huge thanks to Plowman and Cummins, Moondisc, @fossafossa , and @rikky_mandozza who came directly from Berlin to our lil home at @avaloncafebermondsey . Congrats to the finder of the golden egg. We’re back at Avalon caf to inaugurate your bank holiday weekend, and it will be filled with treats and surprises. Think egg shaped choccy hunts, free soup as per, a duet of very important clowns, and the UK debut of hyperpop starlet @rikky_mandozza 🫶 /////// PLOWMAN AND CUMMINS are an experimental clown duo. Expect classical singing, falling over, mess, beauty, violence, and the feeling you get when you see someone running for the bus as it drives away 👽 Please note this act will have a limited capacity, and will be on a first-come first-served basis. Please arrive in good time! /////// MOONDISC bring their oddball mix of medieval percussion, 3D printed recorders, horns, and bass to Avalon for their debut performance 🌀 John Cage eat your heart out 🌀 /////// @fossafossa - Anjali’s sets are lil universes of their own - dank, sparkly, euphoric, murky, rawdy, saucy, and hard. Expect all the above and more ✨ /////// @rikky_mandozza (live) - we are so very excited to host Berlin-based artist Rikky Mandozza for their UK debutttt. Their live set is somewhat unforgettable, sitting in the glittering ether between hyperpop and trance. Make sure you’ve done your stretches upon arrival. 💅 We’ll be fundraising for @sistermidnightldn - a collective grown from the fires of SE London’s political music world, who are on a mission to build a collectively owned venue in the heart of Catford. They’ve secured a site at the former Brookdale Club, and the proceeds of the night will go towards the ongoing renovation works at the space. 🌟 We're still warm from the glow of Friday - twas a truly nourishing feed in the Trough 🌟 With thanks to all you dancers we raised £510 for @lambethmutualaid - money going towards their monthly free café, solidarity fund, political education, and many more excellent schemes! It was super great to hear more in depth about what you do @lambethmutualaid along with the excellent lino printing workshop - especially the LMA x Trough T print (give us a shout if you want one and we'll poss print a few more) Thank you @charliekeen.silverbirch for your songs about birds, northern place-names we know little about, brought into being via the trom🦴 & shruti drone machine. @comfort.irl 's phenomenal 3 song set completely blew us away. A small glitch en route down meant we only had 3 songs on repeat for Comfort's set. Not many bands could captivate and hold their own (with a few giggles thrown in for good measure) playing only 3 songs the same way they did. We are stoked for the full return @safxb thanks for keeping things grooving onwards throughout the evening and @troughdance Residents John Voyage (@sam_baker.info ) & The Turning (@laurie_nanki ) for keeping things weird til the very end (+ some bonus 🎺 thrown in for good measure) We'll be back @ Avalon on the 3rd April. Trough Dog is continuing the tour of its fave South London venues and has landed on the institution that is @avaloncafebermondsey . We'll be running from 7pm-4am, with live acts, DJs, a VERY SCARY RAFFLE, and some important merchandise. @mosquit0farm will be kicking off proceedings, opening up their trove of handmade instruments to create a live performance of chaos and harmony. The fabled duo of power ballad kings @ll_burns will follow. Spinning tunes into the wee hours will be @viscus_discus (who we're very excited to welcome to SE London on a permanent basis), and @selnrecordings co-boss, DJ Gonz / @pesoneto_ . We're fundraising for the @goodlawproject 's campaign for Defending Free Speech in Palestine. The Good Law Project bring together legal action, investigations and campaigning to fight against hate, and they're currently acting for multiple victims of the campaign to silence critics of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Come down early for @laurie_nanki 's famous soup, scoop up tickets to a VERY SCARY RAFFLE with some very scary prizes (deemed by our government), and share our love of plasticine with @plasticineaction . Now that our heads are well and truly back together and troughdog's tail is happily wagging in the London sun we want to say a huge thank you to everyone that came and danced with us last Saturday. 🚨 big vibes alert 🚨 SATURDAY 31st MAY - @lokibrixton - 9pm-3.30am 🚨 @genderedintelligence FUNDRAISER 🚨 For Trough 02 we travel around the corner to another sacred arch of London’s Thameslink Service - @lokibrixton . Newly refurbished by the glorious team behind @cheekysoundsystem & making use of their eponymous soundsystem to boot - the dance will go from 21:00 - 03:30. The evenings performances will be a live-sampling dance performance from @loreaburge , trumpet & electronics loops from @dunce.artist , you know what to expect from @oysther_________ , & a crafted slinky, sexed-up cut and body-led set from @drumsofjay to finish. Trough Residents will be filling in the gaps. All profits from the night will go towards @genderedintelligence - a trans-led and trans-involving charity that works to increase understandings of gender diversity and improve the lives of trans people. The troughdog is paramount to the success of our next party - Popeye’s spinach if you will, or huel to an overworked marketing executive - without him we are merely folks dancing in a small room god forbid.
