S.O.S. !! It’s time to get skilled in challenging the Hostile Environment !!
At School of Solidarity we build our skills through sharing what we already know and learning from each other. For our next school, we will be joined by people already active in Southwark and Lambeth Anti-Raids (@slantiraids 😘) to consider how to identify an immigration raid, how to challenge police questioning safely, and how to act to protect each other.
Whether you have a British passport or are navigating the immigration system, all are welcome, because we learn best when we learn from many experiences, together. We can pay your bus fare and will provide some snacks. The room is also accessible to wheelchairs, and has an accessible toilet.
If you have other access needs, let us know using the registration link in our story!
See you there! 🫶🏿🫶🏻🫶🫶🏾🫶🏼
BORDERLESS KITCHEN 25TH MARCH 7PM
@PLATFROM CAFE 2 RIDGWAY ROAD SW9 7AH !!
link in bio for tickets to our first dinner on Wednesday 25th March hosted by head chef Princess, who ran her own restaurant in Nigeria. Come for the jollof rice, stay for her inspiring stories of feminist campaigning.
Lambeth Mutual Aid invites you to Borderless Kitchens - a monthly celebration of the people, the plates, and the powerful stories that surround us. Each month, we’ll hand the kitchen to a neighbour from our community, who has travelled to London from another country, to share a meal from their heritage and heart.
As we eat, our guest chef will share their “story behind the dish” - we’ll learn about the political, social and economic landscape of their homeland.
With Borderless Kitchens, every plate servedhelps fund Lambeth Mutual Aid. We are raising funds for future activities, as well as those we’re already engaged in, from summer trips out of London for those who otherwise can’t afford it, to our wealth-redistributing Solidarity Fund. Lambeth is a borough of beautiful diversity but also shocking financial inequality. To make these events accessible for all, we’ve created a sliding scale donation system. If you can afford to eat a dish at any of the following restaurants in Lambeth, please consider paying that for your meal at Borderless Kitchens.

So look. The world is in a state of war. We are sick in our minds and in our bones, we are anxious for our loved ones, we can feel the hate burning around us. We could hide inside and watch TV. Or we could gather, organise, be generous, give care.
In other words, we can build up mutual aid.
If you want to get involved, we have plenty ways in:

You don't have to live in Lambeth to be part of Lambeth mutual aid. Let's build connections, share knowledge and create networks of care as widely as we can
Learning a new language? Practising English? Or just fancy some conversations and connection with friendly people through Lambeth Mutual Aid?
Come to our language exchange social on Sunday 22 February from 12pm at Peckham Levels - floor 6, Multi Story cafe space
We had our first language exchange in November and it was lots of fun - we had around a dozen different languages spoken including English. It's super relaxed - just show up and we'll chat in languages spoken by everyone who comes along.
With a big thank you to all our friends who helped translate the flyer!
If you're looking at the news, the environment, the hostility and inequality of this society and slumping in despair, we hear you, we see you and we want to get together with you. Mutual aid can't change anything overnight, but it can build alternative ways of living together and supporting each other. Lambeth Mutual Aid is a group of people doing what we can: sometimes it's not much - but sometimes it means a lot. So, come join in!
The new people meeting is great for anyone new to Lambeth, new to mutual aid, returning to taking action after burnout, and honestly even if you live in another borough, you are totally welcome too. Weds 11 Feb, 7.30pm in the front room of Effra Social
The community cafe always needs helpers who are happy to do the washing up, all the food is free (and delicious!!) and it's a great place to get a feel for how we want Lambeth to be. Saturday 14 Feb, to get your hands in the sink arrive at brockwell park community greenhouses by noon, to eat and socialise come for 1pm
The organising meeting, ngl, can be a lot! But it's also where we plot and plan together, and again, anyone is welcome, even first-timers. Monday 23 Feb, 6.30pm, Advocacy Academy
We will share more details about school of solidarity very soon - for now, save the date! Sunday 22 march 3pm
