The Los Angeles Times (April 23, 2026, CA section) featured the launch of the TREEAMS nursery at
@efacademy_pasadena .
TREEAMS, envisioned by Dr. Jane Goodall and Margarita Pagliai,
@margarita.pagliai founder of
@sevenarrows.k6 and Little Dolphins Preschool
@littledolphinsbythesea , is bringing young people across Los Angeles together to take action and reimagine a greener, more sustainable future in the aftermath of the 2025 fires.
Students from St. Mark’s School
@saint_marks_school_altadena and Seven Arrows Elementary both lost their campuses in the Altadena and Palisades fires. In the immediate aftermath, EF Academy welcomed St. Mark’s students to its Pasadena campus, where they continue to learn today. What began as a crisis has become a powerful collaboration building unity and connection across schools.
This week, EF Academy and Saint Mark’s students planted 30 native California trees, including sycamores and coast live oaks. Students will care for these trees as they grow, preparing them for replanting in fire-affected areas throughout the community.
On May 19, Seven Arrows Elementary will launch its own TREEAMS nursery as part of a growing network of school-based nurseries across Los Angeles. These efforts are a critical step toward TREEAMS’ goal of planting 5,000 trees across Altadena, Pacific Palisades, and surrounding communities.
The students are leading the way.
Thank you
@latimes for shining a light on what’s possible when young people are trusted to act.
