Edit: Whoops! This was supposed to be posted from the BTRC account. Apologies for any confusion! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ Free Stuff! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ Throughout January our friends at the BTRC have been running a post-christmas swap, where people could bring in clothes, toiletries and other goodies that weren't quite for them. The turnout for the event was amazing, and they wanted to give the lovely queer folk of NI one last chance to pick something up! Join the BTRC at PaperxClips cafe from 1pm-7pm on the 16th of February, to grab some lovely new clothes, to make a wee donation to the centre, to grab a hot chocolate and to chat about what the BTRC is planning for 2024! Check out @belfasttransresourcecentre for more info!

Do you already have too much this Christmas? Is your sock drawer struggling to close, your bookshelf groaning under the weight of all the stories you still have to read, your snack cabinet still full of chocolate from last Christmas? Why not ask for a donation this year! The Small Trans Library Belfast is currently fundraising for the year ahead, to get new queer books, run trans events and to provide much needed mutual aid to our community! Our donation links are in our bio, or you can make cash donations in @paperxclipsbooks or the Belfast Trans Resource Centre! Or you can scan our handy wee QR code to go straight to our PayPal! As always thanks for the support, we're looking forwards to spending a very trans 2024 with you 🏳️‍⚧️🌲✨️

Our friends at the Belfast Trans Resource Centre are putting together a charity auction to raise funds! As they don't have an insta (just yet!) They've asked us to share this post with our lovely followers 😘 ✨️🏳️‍⚧️The Belfast Trans Resource Centre is hosting a charitable auction of donated art, crafts, products, vouchers and more! 🏳️‍⚧️🎉 All proceeds enable the BTRC to help provide our critical work in supporting the Trans, Non-Binary and Intersex communities of Northern Ireland. The BTRC is a safe social space for the Trans community in NI, run by and for trans people. Since 2016, TransgenderNI has provided the BTRC for community events, social hang outs, workshops, education and more! Our volunteers and staff have tirelessly advocated for the community, provided workshops for businesses, charities and other institutions and worked hard to meet all of our service users needs. The bounce back from COVID has been tricky, but we're looking at ways to get the money we need to help keep the lights on and expand the services we are able to provide for trans people in NI! If you would like to donate any art, crafts, foods, vouchers, or anything that might make a nice little Christmas gift, or know anyone who might wish to donate, do let us know! Any and all help is greatly appreciated. (You can PM us at the STLB or email us at [email protected]!) Join us in the Black Box at 7pm on the 18th of December, make some donations, have some craic, and get some beautiful gifts as well, either for yourself or for someone who deserves a present this holiday season. Certificates will be provided along with each item won, thanking the buyer (or whoever you would like us to make it out to!) As well as saying how much was donated. Suggested ticket donation is £10! Cash and card donations will be available on the door. Poster made free by the incredible @imogendonegan on Insta! And as always, we thank you for your support! 🌟

❄️🏳️‍⚧️Trans Mutual Aid!🏳️‍⚧️🌲 It's a tricky time of year for a lot of people, our community especially! While the Belfast branch of the Small Trans Library is hard at work raising funds to provide mutual aid, the Dublin branch @translibdub is continuing to support struggling trans people from Northern Ireland as they always have! If you, or a trans person you know in NI is in need of a little bit of extra money to help cover expenses you can reach out directly to the Dublin branch by messaging them on Instagram, emailing [email protected] or messaging on twitter! If you happen to have a little bit to spare, you can donate to the Dublin branch to keep their mutual aid running for the whole island of Ireland, or donate to the Belfast branch to help us with our own fund, hopefully launching next year! We're at paypal.me/STLBelfast (link in bio, QR code in post). We also accept cash donations in the BTRC, PaperxClips or at any of our events! Right now our book acquisitions, our events and any additional costs are entirely funded by donations from our wonderful community, together we hope to grow our wee library into something that really helps the lives of trans people in NI ✨️ Thanks as always for your support!

📖 New Library Books 📚 We're constantly updating our library with new queer books of all genres for your entertainment! If you have any queer books of any kind, be they novels, theory, art books, memoirs, magazines, erotica, spirituality, history or whatever we are always accepting donations, especially books written by or about us trans folk 🏳️‍⚧️ Today's volunteer recommended book is Aiden Thomas' newest novel "The Sunbearer Trials"! Follow Teo, a young trans man and son of the god of birds Quetzal through a colourful and vibrant world of gods (dioses) and their magical children (semidioses) for the deadly decade-ly tradition of The Sunbearer Trials, where ten Semidios teens are selected to take part in a series of deadly trials. The winner becomes the Sunbearer and travels around to keep the cities safe from malevolent outer gods (the Obsidians) while the loser is sacrificed to keep all of Sol's people safe. Expect drama, gay crushes, fiendish puzzles, plenty of cool trans characters in a deeply queer world you just want to get lost in. In parts riveting, hilarious, tragic and tense, we're eagerly awaiting the follow up from the YA star Aiden Thomas. Pick up a copy from PaperxClips or ask about borrowing a copy from the library! As well as The Sunbearer Trials some of our new acquisitions include: "Call Him Mine" by Tim Macgabbhan - A gay crime-fic thriller about a journalist looking for justice for his photographer boyfriend's murder. "Beautiful Aliens: A Steve Abbot Reader" - A collection of poems, comics, essays, illustrations and stories from an iconic art critic and figure in the Gay Liberation Movement, as well as an anti-war and civil rights activist. "The Secret Diaries of Anne Lister: I Know My Own Heart" - described as the "Dead Sea Scrolls of Lesbian history" the collected diaries of Anne Lister, also known as Gentleman Jack, reveal the life and loves of the wealthy jack-the-lad from the early 19th century. And "Lady Midnight" by Cassandra Clare - a YA series focusing on young shadowhunters, powerful humans blessed by angelic blood, as they try to keep the peace with "downworlders" and avoid an all out war with the fae. 📖

🎥 🍿 🏳️‍⚧️SMALL TRANS FILM CLUB BELFAST PRESENTS🏳️‍⚧️🍿 🎥  "The Pink Stripe: Trans Sex on Screen"! Eventbrite - tickets in bio! Back by popular request, we are proud to present a series of shorts based on the shorts block curated by the incredible James Hudson from the Small Trans Library Dublin! ( / @townmice ) "In 1978, artist Gilbert Baker created the first iteration of the rainbow pride flag, with two stripes later dropped due to printing costs. One was turquoise, representing art and magic. The other was pink, representing sex. The short films in this programme rescue these lost stripes from the cutting room floor.  While trans sexuality is often excluded as either fetish or taboo, these trans filmmakers come together to celebrate the trans body and its capacity for pleasure. Bringing together filth and fantasy, cuddles and carnal knowledge, these films demand more than a frictionless existence. They are made with painful intimacy and uninhibited passion. Beyond survival, they find trans love, desire, art, magic, and sex." - @townmice This film block celebrates trans sexuality in all it's forms. Expect comedy, surrealism, intimacy and most of all stunning trans erotica. Tickets will be free to all attendees, however we ask that those who can make donations please do! All donations go directly to running the STLB, to running future events and to our upcoming mutual aid fund! Kickoff will be at 6pm on the 22th of October in @paperxclipsbooks ! Grab your ticket early to avoid disappointment! If the tickets have sold out get on the waitlist, as tickets may become available if attendees cannot make it. If you cannot make it let us know, or refund your ticket as soon as you know! Due to the nature of this screening, this particular Film Club meeting will be strictly 18+. These shorts depict nudity and graphic depictions of sex. All films will be subtitled in English where possible. For questions including queries about additional ticket availability, email us at [email protected] or find us on Instagram @translibbelfast
