It’s a story about family, culture, and resilience, and it’s been shaped by every single person who gave their time, talent, and heart to bring it to life. So proud to announce that our film Nursery will be premiering at @flickerfest 2024!! Those that are close to me have heard me beat on about this film for a while now and I’m so happy it’s seeing the light. Thank you so much to everyone that came on and helped us make this film. I felt so lucky to have so many talented people come on and support us in making the film come to life. Again, it is such an honour to work with writers/directors who pour themselves into the stories they tell and this one was a game changer. Shooting Nursery taught me so many lessons that I still apply to my “process” of being a DOP. This is my love letter to the greats, Eric Rohmer, Luca Guadagnino, James Ivory, Andrea Arnold and Robbie Ryan. Whose films I connected with at the time of making this film. Embracing natural light was key to making this film, and I couldn’t be more prouder of the cinematography. FINALLY. I am so PROUD to announce this. Anak - my first feature that I had the honour of shooting will be making its AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE at the 70th @melbfilmfest this year. Words can’t describe the amount of joy and excitement that I have for this film to be premiered. All I can say is that I’m am so proud of this film and story, to have it as a first feature is a tremendous honour. I want to thank director Caleb @svtycl for being a fire in the iron pot for this film. When I read the script, I knew I had to shoot this film at any cost. There’s a lot to say about this collaboration but thank you for having me lens this deeply personal story. It has been a long term goal of mine to have my work displayed at @melbfilmfest and I thought it might only be a short. I never thought in a million years that my first feature would be my introduction to MIFF, let alone it’s 70th year! I’m so proud to have this as my first feature. It has been a big goal of mine to shoot and create Filipino stories here in Melbourne, to have this as a first, makes me incredibly proud. I’ll go into it on a separate post, but I wanted to thank the entire cast and crew who helped make this film. Every one of us were learning as we went and I think we did ok! 😉. I want to thank my ride and die @ajbosito who has been my bed rock during this career. I’ll go into our friendship later. Hope to see you at the premiere or a screening. A couple of photographs from India that I took back in February whilst on a job. More to come later, but, what an amazing experience being in Varanasi for work. A really surreal experience being in one of the most spiritual places on earth a week after Nan passed away. I said a goodbye to her along the Ganges when I visited on my last evening there.
