The Overthinker
I’m a self-diagnosed chronic overthinker, and I’m sick of it. Constantly wasting time and energy on things completely out of my control. Pondering on hypotheticals has almost become a hobby, and while creating stories in your head is sometimes fun and harmless, when they creep too far into reality, it becomes dangerous.
The goal of this piece was to create a visual representation of the time wasted and mind games I play due to those unnecessary thoughts. Once I had the general clock idea and colour palette in mind, I didn’t allow myself to pre-plan any more design elements and just went straight to the paintbrush, trying to enjoy the process instead of stressing about the outcome and how others may perceive the final product.
I’ve been listening to loads of Oasis’ music in preparation for their show in a couple of weeks. Connecting to some of the lyrics in the song ‘Supersonic’, I had a quick Google search to learn about the song’s story:
‘Noel’s just sat there with the guitar, and he just wrote the music. That will do, and then he wrote the words, any old fucking words, and he came back into the room with us, with his guitar, and he said, ‘Look, I’ve just written another song.’
Blind box addiction is real, and as a recovering #popmart addict, I feel the need to spread the message. 🙌
