Another snippet from a FIYAH conversation with my Ghanaian brother, filmmaker Kobina de Graft-Johnson, producer and director of the explosive film KING OF TEMA on @africandiasporanews The drug trade or the silence? 🤫 …we got into the REAL tea about what’s really happening in Ghana, the streets, the pressure, the power plays, and let’s just say… KING OF TEMA did NOT come to play 👀🇬🇭 This wasn’t one of those safe, watered-down interviews either. We talked storytelling, culture, truth, survival, and the uncomfortable conversations a lot of people avoid. And whew… Kobina SPILLED. 🎥🔥 Catch the short interview now on African Diaspora News Channel on YouTube (link in bio) And watch the FULL conversation on the African Diaspora News Channel app. Download it now on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store 📲✨ And if you haven’t secured your tickets yet… what are you waiting for?! 🎬 KING OF TEMA screens May 22nd & 23rd at ShowPlace ICON Theatre in Rockville, Maryland. 🇨🇦 Toronto stand up! I’m excited to announce that @tpafforg is the official screening partner for the June 12th & 13th Toronto screenings happening at Imagine Cinemas Market Square 🙌🏾🎬 Go follow @anibokstudios , hit that link in bio, and lock in your tickets before everybody else beats you to it 😭👀 Because trust me… you do NOT want to be the person asking, “Wait… where can I watch it?” after the timeline starts exploding 😅🔥 #KingOfTema #AnibokStudios #AfricanCinema #Ghana #Movies

Your feelings matter. And when Black men express them, it can make people uncomfortable. Not because it’s wrong—but because we’ve been conditioned not to see it. But emotional suppression is not strength. And growth requires space. This reflection came from a conversation I had with Ashton James (Youngblood), directed by Hubert Davis. Part of a talkback for National Canadian Film Day, at the Toronto Pan Afrikan Film Festival, in collaboration with Black Lens Society. A moment that became something deeper. #BlackMenHealing #BlackLensSociety #NationalCanadianFilmDay TorontoPanAfrikanFilmFestival #BlackMasculinity #CulturaConversations

Listen… I’m not even being dramatic, but if you’re sleeping on King of Tema, you’re playing yourself 😭🔥 This one? Gritty, intense, and the kind of story that pulls you ALL the way in. Power, betrayal, real stakes… yeah, it’s giving cinema. And the way it captures Ghana and the culture? Beautifully done. Authentic, vibrant, and you can feel it in every scene 🇬🇭✨ King of Tema is screening on May 22nd & 23rd at @yoshowplace in Rockville, Maryland and I’m excited to announce that @tpafforg is the screening partner for the June 12th & 13th screening in Toronto 🙌🏾 going down at @imaginecinemasca - 80 Front St East, Toronto. Go follow @anibokstudios , hit that link in bio, and secure your tickets before you’re the only one asking “wait… where can I watch it?” 👀 Trust me… you’re welcome. 🎬✨ #kingoftema #anibokstudios #movies #ghana #film

We love Toronto! Returning to the city where we made our world premiere, producer @nanaadwoafrimpong took the stage at a joint event put on by the @cityofto and @tpafforg for a riveting screening and subsequent discussion about the legacy of Kwame Nkrumah, Chris Hesse, and the limitless power of film. Thanks for all the support and to the amazing organizers from the City of Toronto and Toronto Pan Afrikan Film Festival who made this event possible.
