What’s involved in preparing for May
@artistsopenhouses ?
Lots of time,plus courage to invest financially,emotionally,and physically in your craft - and the blind hope that people will return that investment in your work and be interested in your story.
Open House for me it’s a great opportunity to show case my textile art and explain the relationship between my art work and my brand.
I love that when someone buys a sweat shirt, T-shirt,bag or pouch it’s a pice of my art work they are buying - wearing.
Your sweatshirt has evolved from an idea, a thought a feeling on a shape,color, or texture that’s then turned into an appliquéd silk wall hanging or vinyl print.
It’s next evolution is a life beyond a static pice of art, it’s on a body being worn,taken on holiday, in and out of a washing machine to be worn again and again :)
I’m very great full for this journey and I’m very great full for every sale I make, it inspires me to continue and hope it puts a little bit of visual joy out into the world!
