So gassed to have published this piece with @wasafirimag
An experimental bit of life writing that plays with the bae Roland Barthes in search of new ways of surviving transphobia, all set in the graveyards of Lewisham.

Community Across Time: Queer History and Creative Writing
I had the joy of facilitating my workshop on intimate queer/trans histories at a bunch of exciting places with a bunch of exciting people. We talked about the past, our for and fears of it, and the kind of truth that comes from these feelings.
3 workshops in 3 cities across 1 month - it was kinda like a lil tour! Anyway, here’s some snapshots.
1. Queer History Now symposium @mansfieldoxford
2. Flag on empire
3. Palestine camp at Freie Uni @fupalestinecommittee
4. Freie Universität, Berlin

Thank you to all the people who made it possible! Especially Matt Cook, @weightliftingjen@casbradbeer
Next workshop at the London Archives on 10th Aug! @ldnmetarchives
See you soon 😘⏳🌺
What a wild honour to be shortlisted for @fitzcarraldoeditions Essay Prize
Whether it goes any further, this is already a huge acknowledgment. Hopefully it will bring me one step close to an agent/publisher who understands the value of supporting experimental histories of trans life.
Understanding Eleanor is a book about trans history, erasure, and intimate connection across time. It uses unorthodox literary methods and sources to build an intimate biography of Eleanor Rykener, a transfeminine sex worker living in fourteenth-century England. Writing with and against the erasure that Eleanor faced – one that trans people continue to survive today – Understanding Eleanor looks to connect with the everyday realities of Eleanor’s life as they lived it. Its an attempt to write trans history not simply as the history of a category, but as a call to transhistorical relation, bringing bringing us into intimate connection with our trancestors.
Thanks to @donna.the.first & @bengry for helping me with my application.
POEM FOR A ZEN NUN
I sat on this for a long time, wondering if it would ever feel simple to post. Turns out it didn’t. But I remember reading it at @camptrans after a similarly open-handed (but much more explorative) piece by @malefragility - that felt nice. Maybe this will too?
Anyway, questions about connection and the us & them and the differences we manufacture.

MAKING HISTORY, THIS TIME WITH FEELING
So gassed to be published in the @ti55ue anthology, collecting trans writers on the theme of "Making"
I wrote about trans history, and the erasure of everyday lives, and transhistorical feelings, and building relationships with our (tr)ancestors through the embodied realities we share (or dont). I also shared some of my research on the trans medieval and my growing relationship with Eleanor Rykener.
Grab yourself a copy, it's full of some of the hottest voices in the UK, and an important moment in trans expression

MY BODY IS A CLOSET SHE BROKE INTO
With all the intensity of publishing a novel, I forgot to tell the matrix that I'm included in this gorgeous anthology by @carrionpress !
A bunch of very exciting writers all exploring themes of decay. My opportunity to dig into a time I got sexually assaulted in public and the way it spread death and dissociation across my body. Experimental shit for experiential madness.

Wonderful review of THE UNDYING AUTHOR by @stickyfingerspublishing 😍
Apparently it has 'a circular timeline that plays its history out over and over,' so that 'South London is a walking memoir,' whose 'streets themselves are part library; stories live inside the body and Lewisham's cemeteries are populated with books instead of gravestones'
Special shout out to the 'sweet illustrations of' @samuelpetherbridge too!
You can pick up a copy at Sticky Fingers' Publishing Fair, this Sat 11th at @lewishamarthouse alongside some of the hottest names in underground publishing 🥵🥵
