What a feeling!!! We premiered our movie this weekend, and I haven't been able to stop crying since 😂 — in gratitude, in overwhelm, in joy, in relief, in reverence. I'm in love with what we made.
Making "The Rebel Reef" 🪸 this year has been the single most challenging creative endeavor I've ever undertaken. It required me to simultaneously use all of my skill sets -- from project management to translating Spanish to scuba diving to storytelling -- at levels I've never before attempted. In all honesty, the effort broke me a little ... we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. And it built me up stronger and more resilient than I knew was possible.
📽️ Film producing is completely foreign to me, and I've had to "figure out how to build the plane while flying." Whewww it's hard work! But, seeing "Produced by Tiffany Duong" flash on the big screen 🥹, having so many people from all walks of my life in the room with me for this premiere, and witnessing how profoundly touched Christian and his family are to see their story represented made every insane and wild bit of this journey worth it.
Above all, I feel immensely lucky and blessed that I have a life where I can use my hard work, my skills, and my talents to create beautiful things and to amplify the work of people I respect and care about.
💕
💡 My life changed when I realized I could make up my dream job. Pro tip: you can ,too 👀.
In 2017, I found myself saying I wanted to 🤿 scuba dive and ✍🏼 tell stories. I had no idea what that meant as a "job title," but I knew that's what I was born to do. Then, I started telling people I was a reporter who dives, then an ocean storyteller, then an explorer. Now, I say explorer, storyteller, and wavemaker. Who knows what the next iteration will be?
In maintaining my true North ✨ through these "name changes," I've learned that the job title doesn't matter as much as what the work means to me. How alive it makes me feel. How much I love doing it, day after day, even when it sucks (and yes, even your dream job will suck).
And so, when people see me and they see my joy at living so fully in my purpose, they ask me: how can I become you? I * always * tell them that's the wrong question. They don't want to be me; they want to find their own version of this magical alchemy of self and service. It's not easy, but it's worth the work.
So, I'm throwing it back at you now. How do you become the biggest, baddest, boldest, happiest version of yourself? Are you ready to meet them? I sure am 💞.
And thank you to @eftours media badasses for the 🎥📸 and to the talented @ianpowell_714 for this sick speaker reel.

🤯🤯 MIND-BLOWN!!! What an INSANE honor and joy to be featured by @outsidemagazine , on their new Podcast "The Daily Rally."
The podcast features short stories of resilience in the face of big challenges and unexpected adventures 💪🏼.
🤿 I share a favorite story of mine: how a casual scuba diving trip to the Galapagos led to the adventure of my lifetime. Sobbing on the bow of the boat, I realized how unhappy I'd become as a lawyer, and — for the first time in a decade— I found the courage within me to do something about it. The rest has been pure stoke and magic ✨, something I couldn't even dream up if I tried.
Producer Sarah Vitak is a gem and a wiz! Thank you for my absolute favorite telling of this story.

WHEWWWW New York!!!!! You took our breath away. Thank you for showing up for our oceans, for music, for art, and for the shared planet we all call home 🌎. You're magnificent!!
We collectively raised $27,000 towards our goal to create mainland Honduras' first ever biobank and marine lab. Your generosity and support have gotten us so close to our $100,000 goal, and we're grateful to every single person who showed up to share in the magic of Tela's rebellious corals 🪸.
Tonight, we have the final performance of this amazing East Coast tour!! 🎻🎹7pm at the @atlaspacdc in Washington DC! It's a sold out show again, so let's see if we can hit that magic number!!!
Being hosted by @juilliardschool@edwardbilous and screening @rebelreeffilm at @filmlinc the Lincoln Center in New York 🗽 was a delight and such an educational experience for us!!
As Ed put it, half of film scoring is collaboration with directors -- something that isn't always taught but that is integral to a successful pairing. His wisdom, and understanding how his former student and our score composer @chadwickcannon guided @brynnerardin and I through the scoring process for "The Rebel Reef" makes me so grateful for this form of art.
Grateful for music, film, and all the amazing ways of experiencing this exquisite planet we all live on 🌎
Introducing our remarkable science panel for our @atlaspacdc show on Saturday, May 9!
Following the Music for the Ocean performance, join us for a special Science Q&A hosted by science policy expert and journalist Bina Venkataraman, alongside climate policy correspondent Dawn Reeves, author of Life on the Rocks and Tela Coral co-founder Juli Berwald, and environmental storyteller and Tela Coral co-founder Tiff Duong.
These are the voices on the front lines of ocean conservation, and we could not be more honored to share the stage with them.
Saturday, May 9 at 7pm at @atlaspacdc . Link in bio for tickets!
The energy and enthusiasm we felt at our Wednesday night show at Symphony Space absolutely blew us away.
The outpouring of support toward our goal of building biobanks in Tela gives us so much hope, and we are endlessly grateful for every single person who showed up. We are happy to announce that the donors that night have helped us come incredibly close to our initial fundraising goal.
And a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful guest musicians and science panel, whose passion and talent made the evening what it was. You are such an important part of this mission.
Thank you, New York. From the bottom of our hearts. ❤️🗽🍎
Living life in full color 🌈 and way out loud.
A year ago today, we didn't have a movie. And now, we're screening @rebelreeffilm at the Lincoln Center in New York as part of @juilliardschool "Art of the Score" event. It's wild to believe, and absolutely incredible to be a part of all this magic.
Thank you to Professor @edwardbilous for putting together such an innovative program and for having us!
Extra special treat: having @scubachris17 older brother @leo_ddv join us in person!!
Tonight is the night! Music for the Ocean hits Symphony Space at 7PM and we only have 10 tickets left. Special musical guests, a stacked science panel, and ticket proceeds goes directly toward coral reef conservation in Tela, Honduras.
We can’t wait to show you the magic of the reef!
Monday at @lincolncenter made for a special afternoon. The Rebel Reef screened alongside beautiful work from current students as part of Julliard’s Art of the Score. After the screening, composer and Juilliard alum Chad Cannon joined Tiff, Juli, and Brynne for a panel discussion. Thank you to Julliard for their wonderful hospitality!
We are excited to be joining Tiff Duong (@tiffmakeswaves ) and Richard Vevers (@richardvevers ) for a special Q&A session panel hosted by Dr. Juli Berwald (@juliberwald ) tomorrow!
Join our Executive Director, Dr. Tali Vardi, in NYC at the Symphony Space (@symphonyspace ) for Music for the Ocean with Chad Cannon (@chadwickcannon ) and Hui Wu (@hw.musician ).
Thank you to Tela Coral (@telacoral ) for facilitating this amazing panel and inviting us to spread the word about the importance of coral restoration!
