Participant 08 — Donghyun Kim
A designer exploring how process and material shape form through time and repetition.
As the Founder of THOUGHT PROGRESS, Donghyun Kim works across product, object, and conceptual design—developing outcomes that emerge through making rather than predefined form. His practice emphasizes the relationship between intention and chance, structure and irregularity.
His work is rooted in process—where repetition, accumulation, and material behavior become essential elements of creation.
Within ODD82, his work reflects “home” not as a fixed place, but as a state formed through time. Through the act of tearing, layering, and stacking paper, form emerges in dialogue with material flow and drying time—revealing a balance between control and unpredictability. In this process, accumulated experiences between familiarity and foreignness take shape.

Odd + Ordinary
Living at the intersection of the unfamiliar and the everyday.
All Paper Series — Bowls and a vase. A perfect pair by @thought.progress for Bread and Butter during @3daysofdesign
Without relying on sketches or pre-defined outlines, forms were developed through intuitive experimentation—cutting and tearing paper, arranging fragments, and responding directly to the material. The resulting compositions emerged through spontaneous construction, guided by the material’s inherent qualities rather than imposed form.

3 days of design: Another clear favourite is @breadandbutter.world curated by @aeoffices and @work.prj 🧈 At @ouri.cph , Korean and Danish designers explore the concept of the perfect pair. Drawing from their cultural backgrounds and material approaches, they created objects that complement each other functionally, conceptually and aesthetically within the dining setting.
It was so lovely to finally meet @kunsik_ in real life! I’ve been following his brilliant work for years.
I also met Mika, a very good boy and perfect ambassador for my main themes in life: Design and Dogs. 🐶
