Still unpacking…. Literally and figuratively! 🤯
The European Hip Hop Studies Network meeting in Groningen, Netherlands. Wow! 🔥🇳🇱 It was amazing to be part of it, from talking, to running an event, exploring the amazing city, seeing old friends and making new ones. It was a truly inspiring week and I feel so lucky to have been part of it.
A huge thanks to all of the organisers and team. You smashed it!
Had such a beautiful time in Groningen, NL at the 9th European Hip Hop Studies Conference 🇳🇱
It was so affirming to be in the company of amazing minds from all over the world doing who are doing incredible things with hip hop. Having the opportunity to present on the Islamic roots and Black political influence on hip hop just as I wrapped up Ramadan isn’t lost on me. Love and appreciate everyone who presented, performed and attended - hope you enjoyed your week as much as I did!
And shout out to the organisation team, hosts, volunteers and all who made this week possible 💐
Let’s take it back ⏪

What a week at the European Hip Hop Studies Conference @thingsdonechanged050 ! 💥 🧠 I was delighted to represent grime music here, and share my research findings on the role of sound, space and bodies in grime learning at @djagonline 🌟 thanks to all the scholars and practitioners who shared their knowledge with me, and for the late night freestyle crew 😝 I feel rejuvenated and inspired 🌱 just in time for spring! In Autumn, we go again - catch me and @misshalalcoolj speaking about grime and surveillance at a conference in Barcelonaaaaa 💡🎤🎶 #hiphopscholar #grime 🆙
Presented the protagonists, methodology, data and findings of my PhD research at the 9th @europeanhiphopstudiesnetwork conference @thingsdonechanged050 in Groningen last week.
