๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ถ๐’“๐’‚๐’๐’ˆ๐’†๐’“๐’Š๐’† by LIร‡O Performance As part of The Warp: Spring Break(s)--In, Down, Out, Up, program 5 The Warp presents ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ถ๐’“๐’‚๐’๐’ˆ๐’†๐’“๐’Š๐’† by LIร‡O Performance Location: @zone2source , Amstelpark 4, 1083 HZ, Amsterdam Time: 18:00, 2 June, 2024, Sunday A transdisciplinary performance created by LIร‡O where traditional Portuguese polyphonic singing and wool work are rendered together as a celebration of sorority and grounded living. The audience is immersed in a space which is transformed into a wool workshop and populated by many layers of sound - the dripping of water from washed wool, the sound of carders, spinning wheels and looms - interwoven with the counterpoint of voices and instruments. Below the surface of artefacts we can find a plurality of intricate crafts. Behind a woollen textile there is a weaver, a spinner, a herder and a sheep. A line - from source to wearer - is traced through its making. Many such crafts were shadowed by their encompassing term โ€œwomenโ€™s workโ€, rendering the history of wool work an expression of the history of womanhood and its place in society. This is a research carried out by a collective of Portuguese artists from diverse backgrounds: Mariana Anacleto (textile art, fashion sustainability activist), Teresa Costa (early and contemporary music), Beatriz Lerer Castelo (early and folk music, photography),Vera Morais (improvised music, community choir work) and Diana Gil (percussion, graphic design). As part of its Spring Break(s)โ€”In, Down, Out, Up 2024 program, The Warp presents this event in association with Zone2Source. Free Entrance.

The Warp Audio Visual Spatial performances ๐Ÿ”น June 29, 2023, Thursday, 1 pm ๐Ÿ”ธ The Kunstkapel, Pr. Irenestraat 19, 1 hoog, 1077 WT Amsterdam The place is currently under renovation, special entrance via service gate behind the St Nicolas Lyceum. The Warp presents: Summering Endlessly on the Sound: Intentional Serendipity โ€“ Polyphonic Cinema (for summer blockbusters in broad daylight) Screening two cinema masterpieces at the same time is not generally recommended. Unless our films were in essence made to be screened together. Such is the case with ๐˜š๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ด (1972) and 2001: ๐˜ˆ ๐˜š๐˜ฑ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜–๐˜ฅ๐˜บ๐˜ด๐˜ด๐˜ฆ๐˜บ (1968). When one media archaeologist endeavoured to search these films for serendipitous co-accidents, by cutting one film to fit the structure of the other, he discovered that Tarkovsky had already done it. As it turns out, Solaris was crafted as a film for film, scene for scene, shot for shot, frame for frame synchronised counterpoint to 2001. Whether we regarded this as some kind of cold war quantum entanglement, an elaborate formalistic joke, or some kind of projected apophenia, it stands that the interwoven dialectic interplays resulting from placing these films into a synchronised dialogue transform these films into something greater than the sum of their parts. Join us at The Warp on Thursday June 29th for a one-off synchronised matinรฉe screening of Solaris and 2001 with a short introduction by aforementioned media archaeologist Brian McKenna. A chance to travel to inner space and outer space โ€“ at the same time. Tickets cash donation of what you will (ten euro recommended).

At the beginning of 2022, after experiencing diverse paths, for a fortuitous constellation of events and personal motions, they have found themselves intertwining purposes and tunes which generated the desire to start a research project together, shared between Netherlands and Italy. These two places bind the dancers in a thread of continuity through past and present, offering the opportunity to carry on and intensify the exchange of experiences and knowledge. The act of encounter becomes itself the material of their investigation. How to meet, recognize each other and how to be together?

Irenestraat 19, Beatrixpark Amsterdam โ–ซ๏ธEntrance: 10 euro (cash at the door) Singashore is a fluid and circular ancient space that redefines itself and pours beyond temporal boundaries. This space is activated by the presence of four bodies that explore the evolution generated by the encounter between the elemental forces of earth and water, air and fire. The bodies evolve from the earth, from the primordial and shapeless vibration of the mud, through the aquatic and fluctuating world of jellyfish, up to the dancing and vibrant human. The boundaries between what moves and what is moved, what is inside and what is outside are thinned. Singashore is a performative experiment aiming to generate an immersive environment in which to live together, audience and performers. Movement acts as a catalyst of possibilities. The project expands the question: How to co-exist and take care of a common space? The warp and weft represent the vertical and horizontal lines respectively in the process of weaving and this is the metaphor that the warp was actually founded on in spite of the other very convenient references to the warped space time continuum, the time warp or the warp speed and warp drive from Star Trek. Thanks to loom collector and artist Samira Vogel an actual loom will be set up for the first time in the center of the Warp space and it will serve as the driving force behind an evening of very warpy experiments. โ–ท Samira Vogel @samiravogel performs ๐™๐™ฃ๐™ง๐™–๐™ซ๐™š๐™ก๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ฉ๐™๐™š ๐™’๐™–๐™ง๐™ฅ โ–ทโ–ท Samm Lewis @samm_lewis performs ๐™๐™๐™š 3 ๐™๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š๐™จ, ๐™€๐™ฅ๐™ž๐™จ๐™ค๐™™๐™š 2: ๐˜ผ ๐™†๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™˜๐™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š โ–ทโ–ทโ–ท Perpetual Bike Crash performs ๐˜พ๐™ง๐™–๐™จ๐™ ๐˜พ๐™ค๐™ช๐™ง๐™จ๐™š ๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™‡๐™ค๐™ค๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ: ๐™๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™๐™ค๐™ข ๐™ฌ๐™ค๐™ง๐™™๐™จ ๐™๐™–๐™ซ๐™š ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™๐™ค๐™ข ๐™ข๐™š๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™จ, ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™๐™ค๐™ข ๐™š๐™ซ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™จ ๐™˜๐™ง๐™š๐™–๐™ฉ๐™š ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™๐™ค๐™ข ๐™›๐™š๐™š๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™จ Performers include: Francisco Garrido @fgarrid_o (Guitar and Composition), Micheal Murray @michealmurrayalto (Alto Sax) and Joshua Lutz @halfpastseven (Piano and Keyboards) โ–ทโ–ทโ–ทโ–ท Todo Modo Too (duo): Alan Purves @alangungapurves and Dirk Bruinsma @dirkbruinsma perform
