FEMBOT CALLING
Friday, February 27 2026 ~ Doors open: 20:00
Showtime: 20.30 ~ Damage: €10 (presale) | €12 (door)
📍OCCII, Amstelveenseweg 134 1075 XM Amsterdam @occii_amsterdam
Am I the lapdog of lust or destruction?
Is this a new world or a dead end?
Is this how I’m meant to be human?
Does lotus-posed sentience listen
for signs from the sky?
Fembot Calling is an evening dedicated to artifice and its aching ~ a space where hazy humanoid longing takes the spotlight. Inspired by sci-fi novels like ‘The Employees’ by Olga Ravn or silent-era staples like Metropolis (1927), the evening brings together four NL-based acts to step into the depths of the bionic soul. Come through for foggy melodies and grainy voices, strange and sacral soundscapes and searching strings of thought !! 🔌🔌

“If I could tell stories that would sway the fabric of time, I’d be doing that for sure.
For now, im stuck holding this little boy’s hand.”
Naomi Collier Broms is a writer, actor, and theater-maker based in Amsterdam. At the core of her practice is a fascination with characters grappling with their power to comprehend and connect.
Henry Flowers is more than a play, it is a surreal rite of passage—a theatre of blasphemy, transformation, and devotion.
It weaves together music, light art, puppeteering, and a monumental descending sculpture of a hand.

‘Smooth Doorways’ by Naomi Collier Broms @evig_ is our seventh article of 2025, published under the topic ICONOGRAPHY & IDEOGRAMS.
Current Obsession offers its digital publishing platform to a selection of writers, exploring a variety of motifs on a monthly basis. This year, the pieces are selected in accordance with the theme 𝘓𝘈𝘕𝘎𝘜𝘈𝘎𝘌. Through the articles we dive into visual languages, the communication of objects, the significance of iconography and symbolism.
ICONOGRAPHY & IDEOGRAMS explores the role of symbols and icons through culture and history, weaving meaning and significance as they move through time and space.
‘Smooth Doorways’ is a meditation on the transformative symbolic power of the vessel. In the article, the vessel appears in a wide variety of contexts to illustrate its potency: in the ancient Plain of Jars; in the contemporary artworks of Ai Ozaki @ai_ozaki_ Su Melo @_su_melo_ and Hanna Hansdotter @hannahansdotter ; as well as in new-weird fiction. Through Collier Broms’ thinking, the vessel emerges as a transient space, which we both disappear into and emerge from—a strange portal between life and death.

(@evig_ + @isabelsspiral )
Naomi Collier Broms is a writer and performer based in Amsterdam. For Tripfest, she will share a work-in-progress featuring writer and performer Isabel Wang Pontoppidan. Using a combination of text and physicality, the duo hopes to open up some questions around communication, loneliness, and the laws of telepathy. This session emerges through a continued fascination with the human struggle to comprehend and connect, exploring the mechanisms we devise - the imaginary and internal landscapes we confide in - as we try to make sense of ourselves and the world around us.
