Today, I’m especially grateful for the journey of motherhood and the woman it has shaped me into.
My son Dawson unknowingly introduced me to a more grounded, graceful version of myself.
Today, I celebrate that transformation proudly.💛

This year’s AMVCA theme really resonated with me because it’s about honoring craft and celebrating culture, so I wanted my look to tell a deeper story beyond fashion.
My outfit is inspired by the Anioma people of Delta North in Nigeria. The textile used is Akwa-Ocha, which is a handwoven fabric traditionally crafted by the Anioma people, so the foundation of the look itself already represents indigenous craftsmanship and heritage.
The word “Anioma” is actually derived from the major ethnic groups that make up Delta North : Aniocha, Ndokwa, Ika, and Oshimili.
One of the most symbolic parts of the look is the corset, which draws inspiration from the colorful and electrifying masquerade culture of the Anioma people. If you look closely, the beading subtly creates the features of a masquerade face ,the eyes, nose, and mouth. while still keeping it elegant and modern.
The hand-beaded sleeve details also say “Anioma” and “Good Land,” which reflects the meaning and identity of the people.
Even the embellished train was designed to symbolize growth, beauty, artistry, and the richness of Anioma culture flourishing across generations.
And I also love that this region has contributed so much to the Nigerian entertainment industry through incredible talents in film, theatre, and storytelling.
So this look is my own way of preserving culture while presenting it through contemporary African fashion.

AMVCA CULTURAL DAY 2026
For this year’s AMVCA cultural theme, “Honoring Craft, Celebrating Culture”, We wanted to represent the people of the Anioma community through their rich and diverse cultural heritage, with special emphasis on the masquerade tradition and the iconic Akocha fabric. The inspiration also draws subtly from the biblical reference to the “Coat of Many Colours,” symbolizing identity, honor, and expression.
While deeply rooted in tradition, the look maintains a modern interpretation of the Delta Igbo bride.
Blending culture, storytelling, texture, and contemporary design into one visual narrative.
