FROM @monamansourplays ---
Two years ago, I was staring down the barrel at needing to write a new play for the @thepoolplays . I was heartbroken about the United States, our involvement in the world, and I was heartbroken about the world of American theater, where it felt like so much of what I cared about was not heard or seen on its stages.
The one thing I knew was I wanted to create with this incredible artist. I'd watched George sing and play the oud a dozen times. So we sat down together upstairs at the Public and watched the then-terrible press secretaries (how low the bar has now gotten). And through George, I found ways to notice things about people as they lied their asses off. Something absurd began to emerge. And from that I was lucky enough to get to play with the words in the stellar company of @maybird_a@andyheebs@rajivjoseph@martyna_majok@thedavidhenryhwang . Their brilliant insights helped me make this crazy play sing.
It's called ROUNDUP, and Friday 3/6 I'm having a reading of an excerpt with my compatriots @pwilson720 and @ramirev as part our next chapter of @thepoolplays .
IATI theater, 64 East 4th!
Come see! George and Tina Benko at 7pm; yours truly and the brilliant @ezemba at 3p. Directed by @ryandobrin

Pool Plays 4.0 Is Postponing!
But ... there will be readings, you're invited!
It’s Mona, Pia, and Vickie. Thank you for all of your support so far. First, the sad news: we began our fundraising in earnest late last year, and we realized as our spring dates got closer that we wouldn’t be able to raise what was needed in time.
But! we are in the process of rescheduling our POOL PLAYS 4.0, and once we get firm dates, we promise you will be the first to know!
However! We are excited to invite you to an event on March 6: a reading of excerpts of our plays, and some refreshment! This event is free to the public, and will be held at IATI Theater in the East Village. RSVP in bio! BLACK BEE, by Pia Wilson
ROUNDUP, by Mona Mansour
YUCHWAHKÉNH (Bitter), by Vickie Ramirez

Playwright Pia Wilson, here, and I’m part of Pool Plays 4.0 (@thepoolplays ) with two other incredible playwrights, Mona Mansour and Vickie Ramirez. And we’re raising money for our shows going up late February through mid-March in the East Village. Donate at bit.ly/help-fund-pool-plays-4
People think theater is for the wealthy, but that’s not all theater. There are working class artists, like me, Mona (@monamansourplays ), Vickie (@ramirev ) and the actors, designers, and crew members we’re working with. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (@nycmayor )was talking about the barrier for audiences to see theater in the city. I would add that there are also a lot of barriers to making theater in the city. All that to say, our production is going to bring additional life to the East Village. It will add to the city’s economy. We need your help to pull that off. Please donate to Pool Plays 4.0. Support theater! Art is vital to human beings. I’ve seen it change people, so help us help others. Put your money in the Pool and again, please share this video if you’re so inclined. Thank you! #playwrightsofinstagram #nyctheatre #nyctheater
