May is Lower East Side History Month!
This annual celebration honors the stories and peoples of the LES. This year, over 70 organizations — museums, arts nonprofits, community centers, gardens, and small businesses — are hosting learning opportunities, tours, performances, and public events.
The LES and Chinatown have deep histories as sites of refuge, community, and mutual aid — places created by immigrants for immigrants.

Kicking off Lower East Side History Month, FAB NYC took over East 4th Street for an epic block party. It was incredible to feel the pulse of our neighborhood’s culture.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Manolo García Oliva, a tireless presence in New York’s Latinx cultural community.
A journalist, publicist, and longtime advocate for the performing arts, Manolo was truly everywhere; documenting, supporting, and uplifting artists and institutions across generations.
We honor his dedication, his energy, and the legacy he leaves behind in our community.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who were touched by his work.
