We’re giving 8th graders early access to financial knowledge—a key to success for youth in our communities. Right now, students at James Rhoads School are building the foundational skills in saving, spending, and decision-making that are shaping their economic futures. It’s all happening through Closing the Wealth Gap—MJF’s financial literacy course powered by Money Vehicle's 12-chapter curriculum. Designed to prepare young people and their families with the skills for lifelong economic stability, Closing the Wealth Gap connects real-life experiences to financial literacy, making lessons relevant, engaging, and long-lasting. Philadelphia students—and their families—need this now more than ever. For the 2026-2027 school year, high school students will be required to pass a personal finance course in order to graduate. This means if not prepared to pass, students may not receive their high school diploma. We’re stepping in early to give students a springboard to achieve their academic goals, then grow to close the wealth gap for their families. Learn more about how we’re closing the wealth gap for youth across the country through schools, universities, and community organizations at [MalcolmJenkinsFoundation.org] #MJF #MJ15YearsofImpact #ClosingtheWealthGap #CommunityImpact

Before the law required it, our students were already doing the work. Starting in 2026-27, Pennsylvania will mandate personal finance education for every high school student. When personal finance becomes a graduation requirement for all Philadelphia high school youth, these students will be ahead–from the start. At James Rhoads School, MJF scholars aren’t waiting for high school — or for a mandate. After school, through MJF’s Out-of-School Time program, they’re already learning to save, budget, and build credit. They’re learning that financial decisions are leadership decisions. And they’re developing the confidence to see opportunity where others see obstacles. When the mandate takes effect, they’ll walk into their classrooms prepared to soar. Not because they caught up — because they already have a foundation for success. And from there, they’ll move on with the financial confidence to close the wealth gap for themselves, and their families. That’s what Closing the Wealth Gap, a MJF program powered by Money Vehicle’s 12-chapter curriculum, is designed to do: meet students where they are, and prepare them with the knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions and actionable financial plans for their future. Because financial confidence shouldn't start at graduation. It should start now. Middle school. High school. College. Special thank you to @phillymayor Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, @cityofphiladelphia Office of Children and Families, and @philly_schools for creating space for us to educate students after school, and for supporting our vision to close the wealth gap for youth in Philadelphia. “You could be a puddle… or you could be a river.” Malcolm Jenkins, NFL star and two-time Super Bowl champion, and his mother, Gwendolyn, discuss their perspectives on moving through the world. In their conversation, he reflects on what it meant to be raised by someone who valued depth and consistency, while Gwendolyn shares what it’s like to watch that take shape. When it comes to creating our legacy—how it’s built or how it’s passed on—eventually it can also show up in the choices we make every day. Take a moment to think about the daily lessons you still carry from the mother figures in your life. Tag them below. Happy Mother’s Day!

We asked the question: What happens when we give youth the tools to reclaim their voices, the space to explore their questions, and the freedom to express their identities? Eight weeks later, G.L.O.W. answered it. Greatness Lives in Our Words™ -G.L.O.W. is a creative lab experience that provides the tools and guidance for students to strengthen their communication skills, increase their cultural awareness, and boost their self-confidence. Piloted at Wissahickon Charter School in Philadelphia, G.L.O.W. immersed a cohort of eighth grade students into an arts-based curriculum rooted in collaborative learning, guided reflection, and culturally-relevant storytelling. From the classroom to the Philadelphia Art Museum, students were immersed in experiences designed to help them observe, understand, and express their own perspectives and experiences. To receive the Jeremy Novak Award from Wissahickon Charter School is both a great honor, and an even greater testament to what’s possible when we collectively empower youth to use their voice with excellence. The greatness was always there. We just helped it glow.✨ Learn more about how our students G.L.O.W. at [MalcolmJenkinsFoundation.org](/).

Receiving this honor is a beautiful reflection of the heart-work that allows children to G.L.O.W. Jeremy Nowak believed in investing in people, and dedicated his work to creating conditions for Philadelphia communities to grow and thrive. As a 2026 Jeremy Nowak Award recipient, we hold close the same commitment to the students at Wissahickon Charter School. Thank you, @WissCharter , for this incredible honor. This year, the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation had the extraordinary privilege of piloting Greatness Lives in Our Words™ - G.L.O.W. at Wissahickon Charter School - Awbury Campus. For 8-weeks, G.L.O.W. students immersed themselves in a creative lab experience that gave them the tools to become confident in storytelling, artistic expression, and owning who they are. What we’ve seen is a transformation from learner to leader, and to witness this happen in the lives of young students at Wissahickon Charter School is truly our greatest honor. To our first cohort of G.L.O.W. students: Thank you for allowing us to see you, to share with you, and to teach you. Seeing all you have done, and imagining all you will become, has been one of the greatest moments of our last 15 years. To Wissahickon Charter School, Kristi Littell, CEO, Principal Lovelee Polite, and their entire team of educators and staff: Thank you for welcoming us into your school community, and for creating a culture where students are supported, not only in what they are learning, but in who they are becoming. To our partners, @StoryCorps ’ Brightness in Black: Thank you for being a pioneer in the modern day movement for narrative justice, for seeing our vision, and for supporting the way we help youth gain their power. To our educators, Tamia Alston-Ward, Cherish T. Christopher, Bailey Fuentes, and Andrea Walls: Thank you for giving G.L.O.W. students a gift they will remember long after they graduate--the gift of true mentorship, leadership, compassion and companionship. To @VisitPham : Thank you for being a friend to the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation, and for welcoming the G.L.O.W. students into the museum to host our culmination event. We’re honored to spotlight a powerful story from Sha Green formerly of Parkway Northwest High School — a educator who has witnessed the impact of MJF’s financial literacy programming firsthand. Sha recalls a milestone moment: students who once received financial tools and training from MJF were now giving back, assembling holiday baskets for families experiencing food insecurity. What started as a community service project became a lesson in leadership, empathy, and financial empowerment in action. Through the Money Vehicle curriculum and intentional mentorship from our team, students gained more than financial knowledge — they gained confidence, agency, and a vision for what’s possible. Sha calls the partnership “transformative,” not only for students but for the entire school community. And for us at MJF, stories like hers reflect why we’ve been doing this work for 15 years. 👉Support the mission: givebutter.com/MJF15YearsofImpact #MJF #MJF15YearsofImpact #CommunityImpact

We’re honored to spotlight our partnership with The Ohio State University College of Engineering and the CARE Office — a collaboration that’s helping students build lifelong financial confidence through our Closing The Wealth Gap initiative. In this heartfelt testimonial, Assistant Dean Lisa Barclay shares how MJF’s fall financial literacy workshop series gave engineering students early access to essential financial tools: credit building, loan management, budgeting, investing, and understanding financial institutions. For many students, these lessons aren’t discussed at home — and they’re not included in engineering curriculum. This partnership ensures students step into internships, co-ops, and six-figure careers with the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions. Because of your support, students are stepping into their futures more confident, more informed, and more financially empowered. This is how we build a financially strong, future-focused generation. Join us in empowering 1 million youth and young adults by 2040. 👉Support the mission: givebutter.com/MJF15YearsofImpact #MJF15YearsofImpact #ClosingTheWealthGap #OhioStateUniversity

For 15 years, the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation has invested in the brilliance and potential of our youth — and Starre’ Nkpagayee’s story shows just how powerful that investment can be. 💜 ✨As a high school student at Parkway Northwest High School for Peace & Social Justice, Starre’ experienced her first deep dive into financial literacy through MJF. That’s where she learned the difference between wealth-building and simply being rich — knowledge that continues to shape her journey today. From classroom conversations with @malcolmjenkins to hands-on community service at our annual Holiday Dinner Basket Surprise, Starre’ discovered her power, her purpose, and the joy and importance of giving back. Now a junior at Cheney University, she’s charting a future built on confidence, knowledge, and impact. Stories like hers are why MJF continues this work, year after year. 💜✨👉 Support the mission: givebutter.com/MJF15YearsofImpact #MJF #MalcolmJenkinsFoundation #MJF15YearsofImpact #FinancialLiteracy #YouthLeadership #TheLegacyContinues #AccessIsUnlocked #WealthBuilding #CommunityImpact #CloseTheGap

For 15 years, the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation has been committed to opening doors that allow young people to thrive — and our Closing the Wealth Gap initiative continues to be one of the most powerful expressions of that mission. This program provides students with real-life financial skills: budgeting, managing student loans, choosing the right credit products, understanding insurance, and making smart investments in their future. But even more importantly, it gives them confidence. It shows them that their goals are within reach — and that they deserve access to the tools that make long-term success possible. The stories speak for themselves: Students creating financial dashboards… Scholars purchasing laptops that carry them through college… Graduates stepping into careers with clarity and purpose… As we celebrate 15 years of impact, we’re inviting you to stand with us in expanding this work. When we invest in youth, we invest in a stronger future for us all. 👉 Support the mission: givebutter.com/MJF15yearsofImpact #MJF15YearsofImpact #ClosingTheWealthGap #YouthLeadership

Every young person has a story to tell. We’re giving them the tools to tell it. The Malcolm Jenkins Foundation, in partnership with @storycorps Brightness in Black, proudly presents G.L.O.W. Greatness Lives in Our Words—an innovative narrative justice creative lab designed to empower students to reclaim their voices and celebrate their identities. Guided by arts educators and cultural leaders, students explore the intersections of history, art, and culture to better understand where they come from—and boundlessly imagine where they’re going. G.L.O.W. creates a space where creativity meets critical thinking, and where young people are encouraged to shape narratives that reflect their brilliance, amplify their perspectives, and honor their truth. By placing the pen, the creative tools, and the opportunity directly in their hands, G.L.O.W. helps students illuminate their own stories—proving that greatness has always lived in their words. Programs like G.L.O.W. are part of our commitment to empower 1 million youth by 2040, ensuring young people everywhere have the tools, confidence, and support to shape their futures. #MJF15YearsofImpact #BlackHistoryMonth #YouthLeadership #CommunityImpact #GLOW #GreatnessLivesInOurWords #MalcolmJenkinsFoundation
