🔊A mapping campaign in Côte d'Ivoire started in May 2025 is getting completed! The @openstreetmap data to support activities of @doctorswithoutborders in Ouangolodougou and Tehini were lacking. That has now improved thanks to #MissingMaps efforts.
🛣🛵 Including the road network, which we will continue mapping.
💻🖱Your contributions support @msf_waca and other humanitarian organizations in northern Côte d’Ivoire, where they are assisting refugees arriving from Burkina Faso.
🙌Thank you, all the contributors!

🔢📈 A map may better show the gaps in access to education and healthcare than mere figures.
🚶🏻➡️👩🏻🏫🧑🏻⚕️Researchers at HeiGIT have developed OpenAccessLens, an open dataset platform on access to education and healthcare worldwide.
It shows how far people are from the nearest schools and hospitals, expressed in travel time or distance.
🗺️ OpenAccessLens is created using open-source tools, primarily openrouteservice and @OpenStreetMap .
📊👦🏽👩🏻🦰 It combines travel-time and distance-based accessibility with WorldPop population data, as detailed in the #HEIGIT press release: https://bit.ly/4vitrjC

❗ Risk assessments are essential for anticipatory action, but they often require complex data processing and technical expertise.
To help lower these barriers, HeiGIT has developed a QGIS Risk Assessment plugin that enables tailored disaster risk analyses without advanced coding skills. They have also released ready-to-use datasets to support risk assessments worldwide.
