Fueled by an outlaw spirit, Freak Out! — the DJ duo
comprised of Break Mode and Palm Pilot — compels
dance floors to do exactly that. Their sets stitch together rock & roll attitude with house, electro, EBM, and disco, creating a sound that’s as unpredictable as it is dance inducing. Based in Portland, Freak Out! plays regularly in their hometown while also branching abroad — most recently bringing their energy to Sameheads in Berlin. Along the way, they’ve shared the booth with kindred spirits such as Niklas Wandt, Xica Soul, and Sound Metaphors, further cementing their place in the underground circuit. They also hold a monthly residency on Noods Radio in Bristol, England, where they let their hair down with selections that push boundaries while staying true to the Freak Out! Pulse.

A decade ago, Break Mode and Kitchen DJ slipped into orbit together and formed Renegade Sunset — a DJ duo devoted to bending time, memory, and rhythm. Alongside their sets, they crafted a series of edits: a warped reimagining of Ministry’s “Angel,” a slow-burn mutation of Butthole Surfers’ “Pepper,” and a chopped-and-screwed descent through the “Intro” of PM Dawn’s Of the Heart, of the Soul and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience.
These emerged from a hazy studio, sound drifting through smoke and half-lit intuition. The result was a small but potent collection of DJ tools: head-heavy and deeply transportive, marking some of the earliest and most spellbinding artifacts of the Bed of Roses universe.
Now, these three edits have been carefully remastered and re-issued, resurfacing from the archives to take their place in the Edit Factory catalog — preserved as relics of a formative era, and ready to be reactivated by DJs with an ear for altered states.

A romantic reimagining of Namai — the debut EP by thelastsunday — through the lens of Portland’s Bed of Roses crew. “I was instantly drawn to the Namai EP — its subtlety, drama, and overall atmosphere really resonated with me. I knew right away that I wanted to collaborate with this artist in some way, so being invited to take part in this remix project was a real honor. Getting some of the Bed of Roses crew involved didn’t take much convincing either — everyone was excited to contribute,” says Break Mode, head of Bed of Roses.
Born from a deep love for sound and emotion, Namai is a meditation on the ties between nature, people, and the self — told through poetic Lithuanian lyrics, rich textures, and intricate rhythms. In the hands of the Bed of Roses crew, these songs bloom anew — each remix a heartfelt offering, infused with warmth, respect, and the shared language of music.
