Stoker was a legend and it’s so beautiful to see how much he was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A very very funny man, who always saw the world from a slightly wonky angle, whose number was always a joy to see come up on your phone. It’s really hard to channel the fact that you won’t hear from someone ever again (the slow ‘helllllo mate’ when you answered the phone) but I’ve got a feeling we’ll never hear the end of Chris and that is a blessing.
Wherever he is you’d know he’d want you laughing and getting up to no good or just bending the rules a bit (a lot) to make the world a better place.
I met him through clubs and stuff and making music for him and Andy and as time went on we did work together on tees and stuff (New Age Dance etc).
He was just such a don that if he said ‘can we do this?’ (whatever it may be) you’d just say ‘whatever you fancy mate’. He sort of had that effect.
Bless him. He made a mark. A total don. ❤️❤️
Just had such a nice time playing at the weekend @om__ldn that wanted to shout it out. I played there earlier in the year and the sound system was sounding really nice but Saturday night you could hear how perfectly tuned it now is. It’s a soft room with soft lighting and the sound doesn’t have to be bright at all to really land. You play all night long so 8 hours. The people that come and dance really make the space and the staff that look after you are the perfect mix of ‘got what you need?’ and letting you get lost in it. The tune of the night for me was this one I’ve used - a remix by @kay_suzuki_music that is this super nice Afro record with no music but just mad bass drops, amazing vocals and sound system noises. When the bass dropped you could feel it. Clubs are run from the top down and the brothers have nailed that one.
Going out on NTS at 6pm / 10am LA today and then I’m in London (and Liverpool) for a few weeks. We’ve got Test Pressing at Jazz Cafe with the legend @wally_badarou_official and @ddwy live with me DJing and before that it’s all night long at London’s finest Om and then off to Liverpool with Alex Kassian which will be a fun one. Photo of me and Wally in Paris a few years back. X
Very much looking forward to this in July and seeing some familiar faces playing from one of the greatest dj boxes out there. It’s a special one. Some shots from the box over the years.
Shout to @elliestokesdj and @chezdemilo and @dave_harvey_teamlove as it’s a team effort x
The last TP show is up on NTS. Starting with a classic from @secretcircuit then there’s loads of new music from @mimsuleiman_themimsuleiman - @musicforswimmingpools - a new Apiento mix for @gilbert_tom_ - and another new track from me and @alex__tepper - a super nice Italian version of the KLF that rips ‘Blow Your House Down’ - some new music from @samgoku.ssj - some new music from @shyclart aka Shy One that is so good and something super nice from @yushh____ and @johnberltranmusic aka Placid Angles. We end up on the beautiful ‘Cost II’ by Black Dog on GPR in tribute to Ken.
Wally Badarou + ddwy live with Apiento in DJ support.
16th May sees this line up land at London’s Jazz Cafe. Wally Badarou is a Test Pressing favourite. From the classic albums ‘Echoes’ and ‘Words of a Mountain’ through to his work in Nassau with the Compass Point crew - Wally has had a hand in some of the finest records known to man.
ddwy means two in Welsh. They make tripped out music for dancefloors and headphones alike. As Dj’s they get it right and live, as they will be playing, is the place where they really open out. Ones to watch. Apiento DJing in support.
We’re pretty excited about this one. Head to the Jazz Cafe website to get tickets.

Our dancefloor has only just recovered from Test Pressing Live. 👞👟👠
Audible delights were brought to us by 90s house heroes Dream 2 Science, master of squelchy synths Ceephax Acid Crew and of course head-honcho Apiento guiding us throughout.
To all the artists and dancers, thanks for a special one. ❤️
NTS breakfast show business. Music from Scritti Politti, Ryuichi Sakamoto, new Tom Sharkett and more… I didn’t realise how much I dance with my hands. Though I did look up at one point and Fab the engineer was doing the same to Sakamoto so maybe we’ve all got it in our bones.
Shout to @nts_radio and all the morning chat room crew.
