This is hard for me to do. But I’m learning it doesn’t make me look weak.. to let the emotions show.
One minute, I was talking about “I’m sorry “, the next, I couldn’t hold back the tears. I guess this was the moment my own music humbled me.
I just want to leave this here for myself. To show this person that she doesn’t have to always seem strong to the world. And for you. Just so you can know that you’re not alone in feelings like this.
Also. I’m so grateful for the people who were in that room with me, many of whom I met that day for the first time. They felt like such a safe space. When the tears came, I was surprised but my heart knew that it was okay in front of them.

“Smooth Criminal,” released on Michael Jackson’s 1987 album Bad, tells the story of a woman named Annie who is attacked in her apartment by a “smooth” assassin who leaves no evidence.
The song’s iconic line, “Annie, are you OK?”, was inspired by CPR training mannequins known as “Resusci Anne,” where trainees ask if the doll is responsive.

Day 8
“Human Nature”, a standout ballad on Michael Jackson’s Thriller, was written by Steve Porcaro of Toto, inspired by comforting his young daughter after she was bullied at school, telling her “people can be strange” and it’s just “human nature”. It was brought to producer Quincy Jones (Michael’s producer) via an accident involving a demo cassette tape.
