Today is #medalmonday as yesterday I ran my first ever half marathon @great_run Great Birmingham Run ⏱️ 1:35:52. I’ve been training for the last 16 weeks using the @runna app, this training block hasn’t been the smoothest as we got our first puppy at week 13 (lack of sleep and the increase in temperature made it harder). I felt strong up until the 19km point, at which point the soles of my feet were burning up, the atmosphere was incredible and the support from spectators was on another level which motivated me to push hard until my feet crossed the finish line. Special thanks to @richardjloftus & @wellrunbrum for encouraging me to sign up, @lindathacker57 for cheering me on the day, @a_thacker86 for living with an obsessive runner and supporting me through my journey.

@wellrunbrum are repping eco-friendly, odourless active wear from @up.clothingofficial at the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run this weekend. Together we will put their odourless t-shirts to the test as we take on Brum’s biggest and best running event. The @great_run on Sunday features a 10k and Half Marathon, and passes Birmingham’s most iconic landmarks! Some of our runners will be taking on their longest ever distance, whilst others are treating this as their post-Marathon shake out. @wellrunbrum is a movement which brings all abilities together to get men’s mental wellness on track through social running in Birmingham. Today is Time To Talk Day. Earlier this week, we sat down at wellbeing hub and café @grounded_brum to chat about running and mental health with some of the men from @wellrunbrum . We all have mental health and by talking about it we can support ourselves and others. #TimetoTalkDay is run by @MindCharity and @RethinkMentalIllness . Well Run Brum is a movement which brings all abilities together to get men’s mental wellness on track through free-to-access fortnightly 5KM social runs in Birmingham. As #2024 come to an end there’s time to reflect on all the good memories from this year 1. I started @parkrunuk in January having only previously ran solo. 2. A week in the #peakdistrict with @a_thacker86 which included almost losing our heads at the top of #mamtor 3. Out for a morning run in #gateshead before #tlcc2024 @theglasshouseicm 4. Seeing @stonstage with @a_thacker86 5. After living in Shropshire for 4 years we finally went ‘round #thewrekin 6. A visit to @shrewsburyprison for @lindathacker57 birthday 7. An incredible meal @rest_upstairs with @lindathacker57 it was worth the 8 month wait. 8. Finally seeing @twostrangersmusical with @a_thacker86 9. Attending a track session at #alexanderstadium with @wellrunbrum 10. Running my first 10k @aldridgerunningclub 11. Seeing @foofighters @avfcofficial with @a_thacker86 12. A week in #northwales exploring #portmerion with @a_thacker86 13. Lawley 5k “fun” run 14. Two puppy yoga classes with @a_thacker86 I’ve never seen her look so happy 15. Stunning sunset walks 16. Completed my 25th parkrun with @richardjloftus and @pharaohdraws we all felt the after burn 🤣 17. Seeing #northenlights from my back window 18. It’s been a week since I got back from #tlcc2023 I met so many knowledgeable and inspirational people. I even signed up for the 5K run 🏃‍♂️which is very unlike me as I’ve never run further than the end of my street 🤣 (I started #couchto5k 9 weeks ago in the hope to run my first 5K in Orlando) let me tell you it was disgusting hot and humid even at 07:30 in the morning and some how I achieved a new PB in 25:16 🏆 but it is was worth it for the AC & the iced water at the finish line, I added a couple of vacation days onto my stay to visit #waltdisneyworld and finally meet up with a friend I’ve known for 4 years, I can’t wait to plan my next vacation to Florida 🍊 next year with @adelethacker although maybe in the cooler months 🥵#epcot #epcotfoodandwinefestival #disneyshollywoodstudios #disneysprings #magickingdom
