The final text for beside/gerllaw, by Dylan Huw, is now available to read on our website! Click the link in bio! 🔗 beside/gerllaw is a seven-part new writing series created in partnership with Testun testun for Artes Mundi 11. The sixth commissioned text for beside/gerllaw, by Anushiye Yarnell, is now available to read on our website! Click the link in bio 🔗 beside/gerllaw is a seven-part writing series created in partnership with Testun testun for Artes Mundi 11. ‘VENERATION of ORDINARY MYSTERIES’ departs from Kameelah Janan Rasheed’s research-based practice, encountered via interviews and exhibition documentation (showing in Swansea and Cardiff as part of Artes Mundi 11). Together they make up a restlessly moving essay on vulnerability and control, learning and unlearning, somatic bonds and cultural residues, and what it means to “gather a home around stories.” We suggest you press play, close your eyes, and let Anushiye’s voice guide you. @testun__testun 's programmes are convened by artist-writer (and AM10 journal editor) Dylan Huw. The fifth commissioned text for beside/gerllaw, by Fern Thomas, is now available to read on our website! Click the link in bio 🔗 beside/gerllaw is a seven-part writing series created in partnership with Testun testun for Artes Mundi 11. Spirals recur in the work of Antonio Paucar, showing in Llandudno and Cardiff as part of Artes Mundi 11: one of his many motifs recasting inherited aesthetic hierarchies from an Indigenous Andean perspective. Responding to this work, Fern Thomas has pursued her own spirals, in language, drawing and movement, in tandem with practice-based research in Wales’ national prehistoric archaeology collections. @testun__testun ’s programmes are convened by artist-writer (and AM10 journal editor) Dylan Huw. The fourth commissioned text for beside/gerllaw, by Kandace Siobhan Walker, is now available to read on our website! Link in bio 🔗 beside/gerllaw is a seven-part writing series created in partnership with Testun testun for Artes Mundi 11. A single object – a banjo purchased as the writer’s birthday present to herself – activates worlds of poetic-theoretical associations. Building from the sound installations staged by Anawana Haloba in Aberystwyth and Cardiff for Artes Mundi 11 – which are underpinned by the artist’s long-term exploration of the politics and poetics of objects in post-independence Zambia – ‘Magic Banjo’ calls on its reader to question assumptions about how the sonic world is produced, how we receive its sounds in our bodies, and how their waves attain meaning. @testun__testun ’s programmes are convened by artist-writer (and AM10 journal editor) Dylan Huw. This new independent platform champions expanded art and writing practices across Wales. -- Mae pedwerydd rhan cyfres beside/gerllaw, gan Kandace Siobhan Walker, ar gael i’w ddarllen nawr ar ein gwefan! Dolen yn y bio 🔗 Cyfres o saith comisiwn sgwennu yw beside/gerllaw, wedi’i greu gyda Testun testun yn rhan o Artes Mundi 11. The third commissioned text for beside/gerllaw, by Mars da Silva Saude, is now available to read on our website! Link in bio 🔗 beside/gerllaw is a seven-part writing series created in partnership with Testun testun for Artes Mundi 11. The artist-filmmaker’s roving, border-crossing spin on the first-person essay emulates the “memory banditry” at play in Sawangwongse Yawnghwe’s flower paintings, currently showing in Aberystwyth as part of Artes Mundi 11. Beginning with the California poppies blooming in their garden in Aberystwyth, their adopted hometown, Saude pursues disparate lines of psychogeographical association, which emphasise the ways inter/personal relations are defined by macropolitical currents. @testun__testun ’s programmes are convened by artist-writer (and AM10 journal editor) Dylan Huw. Mae ail ran cyfres beside/gerllaw, gan Lowri Hedd Vaughan, ar gael i’w ddarllen nawr ar ein gwefan! Dolen yn y bio 🔗 Cyfres o saith comisiwn sgwennu yw beside/gerllaw, wedi’i greu gyda Testun testun yn rhan o Artes Mundi 11. Dilyniant o gerddi tyner – sy’n symud yn gelfydd rhwng y Gymraeg a’r Saesneg, ffurfiau barddonol a rhyddiaethol, a lleisiau person-cyntaf a chasglebol – gan Lowri Hedd Vaughan yw’r ail gomisiwn yng nghyfres beside/gerllaw. Fel rhywun â diddordeb brwd mewn dwr fel deunydd creadigol-farddonol, sydd â’r gallu i’n gwreiddio mewn lle ac i’n cymryd i oesoedd a lleoliadau eraill, cafodd ei hysgogi gan waith hir-dymor yr artist Jumana Emil Abboud, sy’n dangos corff o waith yn Mostyn, Llandudno, a’r Amgueddfa Genedlaethol yng Nghaerdydd, yn rhan o Artes Mundi 11.
