We had a blast @mercuryprojectsa moving, drawing, and discussing during the workshop Resonant Bodies. String theory, muscle fibers, neuronal pathways, and balls of string became points of departure for chalk, crayons, and charcoal. Can’t wait to see you all for day two of the workshop with @teletextile
So excited for the next workshop Resonant Bodies co-hosted by @teletextile and @naomievenaberle . This workshop is part of a month long series which will lead to a final performance titled Strings of Life. Workshop takes place @mercuryprojectsa
UPDATE FOR THIS WORKSHOP: We are changing location for this event! Those who have been invited please DM me or if you have my number, text me for the new address!
Avoid wearing dresses, skirts or super loose clothing because it will interfere with the harness and alter the experience. It is likely that the workshop will be shorter than advertised on this flyer so show up promptly. No need to bring any materials. Looking forward to this workshop :)
Join Naomi Even-Aberle and Pamela Martinez @teletextile for Resonant Bodies: Mapping Connection Through Movement, a collaborative workshop exploring connection, disruption, and transformation through movement, large-scale drawing, tearing, weaving, and collective making.
Together, participants will create evolving visual works that reflect cycles of creation and repair while contributing to Pamela’s developing performance project Strings of Life, an ongoing collaborative process leading toward a future performance at @artpace
You can also experience the process during the Loose Strings Exhibition at @mercuryprojectsa on May 30, 6–9pm.
We’re excited to gather, experiment, and create together in an open and welcoming environment.
Supported by @getcreativesa COSA Department of Arts & Culture.
Tuesday May 5 starts a month long of brainstorms / rehearsals / workshops for my next performance piece String of Life. These are small group explorations to devise what the full performance will become 7+ months from now @artpace . If you’re interested in joining and know my work send me a message and I’ll let you know if we have room on a certain day. Hoping to keep things small and intimate to make some authentic progress, but excited to share the process of becoming. All are invited to the Loose Strings Exhibition @mercuryprojectsa May 30, 6-9pm to see what we’ve come up with on our giant mood board which will be the gallery walls. This is project is supported by @getcreativesa COSA Dep or Arts & Culture.

Accepting: songs, instrumentals, spoken word and sound-based compositions for this release with @htrgrds and @heavyheavyco
Selected artists will be featured on a limited cassette release + receive an honorarium. Don’t miss it—this one leans soft, deep, and intentional.

SOUND WAVE EXPLORATION this sat at @sabgtx
I’ll be doing a public demonstration of the Math of Sound & Vibrational Instruments for the first time ever during Celebrate Pi Day. I’m super excited to collaborate with @f_futamura a mathematician and professor at @southwesternu who studies math in art and more. Experience the resonant tones of crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, the gong and the harp while discovering how frequency, patterns, and waveforms connect music and math. We will talk about the principles behind π, circles, and natural patterns also shape the sounds we hear. Supported by @simonsfoundation
