The exhibition brings together paintings i have made throughout 2018 to works made in the last two years, 23 in total on💜walls. Placed downstairs together with @hottarek hanging sound sculptures🔥🔥and upstairs next to selection of the house collection paintings.

“There is a Sun” – Talar Aghbashian & Maya Hottarek
“Ecofeminist Landscaping” – Chantal Küng & Studierende des BA K++V, Hochschule Luzern

Talar Aghbashian (*1981 in Beirut, lebt und arbeitet in London) und Maya Hottarek (*1990 in Chironico, lebt und arbeitet in Basel) befragen in ihren Arbeiten unsere Einbettung in die Welt, in die realen oder fantastischen Landschaften, in denen wir leben oder die wir uns imaginieren. Die Sonne ist für beide Künstlerinnen zentral: Sie ist die Quelle des Lebens und blendet uns in den Augen. Die Gemälde von Talar sind oft mehrdeutig. Figurative und abstrakte Formen werden zu wilden Topografien, in denen sich Vergangenheit und Zukunft auch mal überlagern: Sehen wir eine Bergkette oder einen Vulkanausbruch? Auch in Mayas Arbeiten verschränken sich Zeiten. Mit Referenzen auf Mikrobiologie, DNA-Forschung oder Science-Fiction thematisiert sie Themen wie den gemeinsamen Ursprung aller Lebewesen oder das Potential von alternativen Erzählungen über die Evolution der Erde. Und die Vulkane tauchen auch bei ihr auf, etwa durch Glasuren aus Vulkanerde in ihren Keramikskulpturen. Zusätzlich zur Ausstellung wird ein Raum von Studierenden der Hochschule Luzern bespielt. Gemeinsam mit der Dozentin Chantal Küng und ausgehend von ökofeministischen Ansätzen erarbeiten die Studierenden künstlerische und vermittelnde Interventionen, die sich um Erde und Landschaften drehen.
