As part of our residency open call, we’re happy to present a second webinar featuring residency spaces with connections to the Continent. This is a chance to familiarise yourself with residencies who make space for artists to engage with a contemporary African art context. This year, we’re thrilled to be partnering with:
@nubuke_wa who run a residency in the Upper West Region of Ghana with a focus on material-led practices
@t_wabisato is a residency based in the Noto Peninsula, bringing together Japan, Ghana and Norway through artistic practice
Each space will give a 20 minute presentation. Join us for the webinar through the link in our bio — we can’t wait to see you there!
T-WAB’SATO
T-Wabisato is a place shaped slowly, through care, attention, and the people who choose to be part of it.
Membership is a gentle way of supporting this process. It is less about access, and more about presence—about standing alongside an idea that values time, craft, and shared experience.
By becoming a member, you help sustain a space where people can gather without haste: to work, to talk, to cook, to reflect. Your support allows T-Wabisato to remain grounded, independent, and open—rooted in Noto, yet shaped by many voices.
There is no expectation beyond curiosity and care. Membership simply helps keep the doors open, the table set, and the atmosphere intact.
You are warmly invited to join us as a non local member.

The search for a kamon to match the vision.
At T‑Wabisato, creativity isn’t confined. It’s where Japan, Ghana and Norway (or the rest of the world) fuse into one rhythm — a living lab for cultural experimentation, collaboration and renewal.
This is the T-Wabisato kamon (crest)
Symbolic Description T-Wabisato kamon:
The Shape of Borderless Wisdom.
The Hatobas explains, ‘This contemporary emblem fuses the philosophies of Ghana, Norway, and Japan into a visual form that reflects a life guided by transformation, harmony, and creativity. It is not merely a design, it is a meditation in form, expressing a worldview that transcends cultural boundaries.’
Drawn with 110 Circles- No Straight Lines
It is a symbol of a new centre born from respectful intersection, the living essence of T-Wabisato.

Massive thanks and appreciation to the Hatoba brothers @kyogen_kamon for their dedication, kindness and overall uniqueness. Arigato gozaimashita. 🖤👏🏾🙇🏾♂️

On January 1, 2026, two years have passed since the Noto Earthquake.
T-Michael @tmichael_bergen , Kaori @caore29 , Wakiko, @wakifuku and I visited T-Wabisato House in Noto @t_wabisato and friends and supporters in the region in November last year. We saw that many lives and homes are still affected.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the people of Noto.🙏🙏🙏❤️
Their generosity and continued support have allowed us to deepen our understanding of the region and to develop T-Wabisato in an authentic and meaningful way.
As we are still refurbishing the House following the damage caused by the earthquake, we have been met with constant kindness and encouragement from local artists, businesses, chefs, etc. These encounters have been a great source of inspiration for us.
Every step forward is made possible by the trust, warmth, and hope of this community.
We are truly thankful to be connected to Noto and to continue this journey together.
#Noto #T-Wabisato #地方創生 many thanks to @nobuyuki1504@keigo20190825@y.ohmukai@ohmurice@morihachi_chisato@shio_jp_@kyogen_kamon@yukosumidajackson@ruisasaki_glass and many others who rigorously support us!!
Every project deserves a strategic visual identity. A visual identity to condense the intention and vision of the founder of the initiative into a visual language that establishes & differentiates itself by communicating through a combination of graphic elements to represent and identify its ambition.

Just over 2 weeks ago I had the utmost pleasure of having a wonderful breakfast meeting with Otani-San and Ayon-San up on the 45th floor at the Bulgari Hotel. Otani -San is the President & CEO of Brooklyn Brewery Japan. Ayon San the Commercial Director.
Kirin is a shareholder in Brooklyn Brewery.
We are working together to create something directional and meaningful locally at Noto through a collaborative initiative at T-Wabisato.
Good things to come.
Thanks for the engaging conversation and for your time and wonderful to have Brooklyn Brewery Japan / Kirin onboard.
Yorushiko Onegaishimasu.

Soon Soon.
