Imagine arriving on set and most of the gear production ordered doesnât arrive. You have an hour to set up the shot with no tripods or no lights. What about blowing a circuit breaker and sitting in a 90+ degree room shoved in the corner of a tiny record store?
Those were few of the challenges we faced while filming for this documentary but I couldnât have asked to be anywhere else. Being in the thick of it with my friends and colleagues is what I pictured shooting documentaries would be like. I was right where I needed to be!
With all that being said, we had an incredible time shooting this project for @clarksoriginals . We travelled to Jamaica, London, and different parts of the US to speak to artists like Ghostface Killlah, Raekwon, Chris Robinson and more about Clarks and their impact in the shoe industry for 200+ years.

Thereâs a few moments in my career that felt like full circle moments and one of those was filming @officialspikelee for @neweracap 59fifty documentary. In film school, you were exposed to countless hours of film. We studied the greats and Spikeâs work stood out amongst the rest. His body of work felt limitless, distinct, and fresh. From his Double-Dolly shots to his 4th wall breaking monologues, Spike blended the narrative + documentary + music video genreâs to create timeless films that continue to inspire filmmakers like myself today. âand thatâs the truth, ruth!â.
It was surreal to be on the same set as him. At one point, before dropping some bars for the camera, he asked me if my camera was rolling and I gave him a nod to confirm. Thatâs a memory Iâll treasure forever. Same question he asked @ernest_dickerson probably haha.
This moment felt even more special because I got to experience it with the @noledgeproductions and @thecompound_ fam. Forever grateful to @pcho and @iam_setfree for this opportunity and the incredible crew that worked on this.
