This year’s jury brings together 21 designers, typographers, educators, curators, and visual practitioners from different international contexts. Together, they will review all submitted works and shape the final selection for this edition.

Gergő Kovács Hungary Jury Member — And Now East 2026 What is an artist who never “makes it”? A hustler chimera of every creative skill known to man, apparently. I’m Gergő Kovács, a 31 y/o extreme typeface enthusiast and Hungarian cultural worker cca 2014. I was involved in projects on 5 out 7 continents during my very online, very unprofitable career. Pre-pandemic I was an artist and curator, part of the come & gone “post-internet” movement. My multimedia works influenced viral trends like “vaporwave” and “health goth”, and I contributed to archiving ‘90-00s design aesthetics like “y2k”, “factory pomo” and “metalheart” as a CARI researcher. Had a solo show in 2016 too. Post-pandemic I am a media designer in the music industry’s experimental underbelly with my departed Nufolklore Studio (rip 2019-25), and recently I joined the renowned Hungarian promotion group NVC. My main inspirations are Asian, Dutch, South & East European arts, folklore, macroeconomics. I’m self taught and skipped the traditional path. I grew up in a village. I believe in the designer’s power of “making culture”, consciously shaping our future instead of servicing demand. I started a real community with my friends. Its local, for queers in Hungary + our global diaspora. To make friends, do things together, be understood. I wanted to be surrounded by other enbies so badly, so lonely online, always waiting for something that never came my way in this cruel world. I have become absolutely disgusted by the algorithmic, voyeuristic nature of consuming each other on social media. I want to interact consciously, pay attention to others, make memories. 5 Years Tender Matter – Trans Creature Merch and New Identity Featuring catalogue and track numbers from 2020 – 2025 // Tender Matter releases TM–001 – TM–023 This week marks the five year anniversary of Tony Renaissance's Dreamreality, the first release on Tender Matter, and with it the label’s fifth birthday itself. For this occasion we are releasing a special piece of merch and a new identity. Since 2020, Tender Matter has existed in the spaces between experimental sound, art, and community in Vienna—not to fill a gap, but because the work itself demanded to exist. Spaces that resonate with exploration, play and defiance are where interesting things tend to happen. During COVID when these spaces physically disappeared, creating alternative realities became urgent. By starting a label we shifted our initial work in music venues to online spaces. The following years unfolded organically: events became key again, collaborations happened naturally, and the label grew alongside the people around it. Nearly two years ago, we started working on a new visual identity for Tender Matter with our most precious and longtime collaborator Gergo Kovács. After countless idea exchanges, passionate research and an intensely beautiful yet exhaustive creative process, we’ve arrived at new graphics that resonate deeply with us: our little trans creature: indefinable, ambiguous, deliberately unresolved. It reflects a consistent return to what resonates—the music around us that stays vital, the artists that keep surprising us, the conversations that find new shapes. Struma+Iodine invites the Hungarian label of wonder and intrigue, EXILES, for a showcase on Thu, 13. March at @rhizvienna in the name of sonic friendship with - ÁBRIS GRYLLUS live @abris.gryllus - ALLEY CATSS live @711f - ZOSIA HOLUBOWSKA live @mmmhhh_zzzhhh - INOU KI ENDO dj @inoukiendo Ábris Gryllus is a Budapest-based artist and composer, he explores the boundaries of sound evoking unique associations and time perceptions. The effect is "borderline absurd and genius, implicitly exploring the contemporary semantics of rave as a form of dream-state, temporary madness, or hyperreality" as Boomkat puts it. Àbris Gryllus performed at events like transmediale and the Venice Art Biennale, and released on labels like farbwechsel_rec @warmwintersltd , The Death of Rave and Exiles Electronics. Alley Catss is a Budapest-based experimental electronic musician and visual artist. Since 2011, Alley Catss has developed an eclectic style by blending ambient and abstract sounds with dance music genres like techno, jungle, and juke, often exploring themes of emptiness and theatricality within virtual and digital contexts, with releases out on @___mappa and EXILES. Zosia Holubowska aka Mala Herba is a sound artist, queer music activist, researcher, and producer working on topics of queering archives, healing practices, and interspecies intimacy. They create performances, sound installations, and radio works and compose soundscapes for dance performances, are part of the @oramicspl collective, and released music through Unsound Festival and Exiles Electronics. Zosia will present the album "Singing Warmia," which sonifies personal photographs from their native region. Inou Ki Endo blends cerebral sounds and rhythms from past and present, exploring techno, ambient, and noise, while curating and hosting concerts as part of Struma+Iodine and the @unsafeandsounds Festival. @exileselectronics is a Budapest-based independent record label, showcasing experimental music from Central & Eastern Europe since 2016, with over 93 releases and 100 immersive events across the region. November 2024 Vienna / AT @fluccvienna Wanne 🪼 Artwork: @nufolklore RABIT (@rabitwhatdreamsmaycome ) the alias of Houston-based producer and Halcyon Veil label head Eric Burton, is a pioneering figure in the avant-club-culture. Known for his deconstructed club sound with his hard hitting rhythms and broken, still polished sound textures, his following albums continued to push sonic boundaries, melting underground and pop together, while exploring themes of identity, politics, and the intersection of the personal and the abstract.  Tokyo based producer and performer LUηG (@lung.lung.lung.lung.lung.lung ) works heavily with body and voice. His mind-blowing performances are highly confrontational, melting harsh noise and deconstructed club into an abyssal, stubbornly energetic amalgam.  Besides playing the legendary PAN label nights at Berghain next to acts like Skrillex, Berlin based NUNGUJA (@nunguja ) has performed at renowned venues like MoMA PS1, or Tate London. In her DJ sets, Nunguja skillfully weaves together a captivating fusion of musical genres. Her artistry knows no bounds as she seamlessly incorporates elements of experimental, electronic, jazz, and traditional African music. Joanna Coleman alias KEINPONNY (@kein.ponny ) deals with error cultures, interference signals, random systems and sensory overload. Their artistic work revolves around the investigation of generative systems in their transdisciplinarity using soundscapes and rhythms of rave, trance and neo-gabber.  YVES (@yves000_ ) is a DJ, curator and co-founder of the collective known as sugar slip, an all-female collective from Vienna. Her selections vary in depth between heavy percussion, leftfield bass, tribal and deconstructed club.  CALL ME DADDY (@rmroch_ ) is a DJ from Brazil, currently based in Vienna. She is a lover of layers, subtle sounds, atmosphere and drama, resulting in mixes that blend a constellation of music genres with regional sounds and rhythms.
