In the face of the climate crisis, performers Lens Kühleitner, also known as Lan Rex, and Olivia Hild use thrusting as a performative strategy to explore emotional as well as geological layers. trace my layers, thrust your guts is inspired by movements in alpine soil: faulting, pushing, gliding, squeezing, breaking, flowing. Matter is active here. Through dance and sound the artists follow vibration as a shared source. Sculptural instruments outline natural rock formations, resounding deeply and clanging loudly as Olivia Hild and Lens Kühleitner interact with these sound sculptures. The choreography lies layered in the space like rocks: One layer porously merges into the next. Bodies rub against each other, inwardly, into the space and resisting the pressure until something breaks open. This coming Wednesday ☝️ Been a while a while - Lens Kühleitner @lan.rex.1 🗓️ May 28th, 17:00-18:30 📍APL studio, Georg Coch Platz 2, Wien This semester's focus: "Omni-Urgent Histories: Embodied Declarations of Fear, Memory, and Belonging." Class Info: In this practice-sharing session, we explore a soft memory through sound, toning, and sketching. A stick, a plastic figure, an unexpected object—each tied to a once-familiar place. Situation encounter, and bodily memory unfold into the present. We translate memories into musical scores, using them as a foundation for improvisation. Slowly, singular experiences dissolve into a collective tonal event—an evolving composition of memories and remembering. Bio: Lens Kühleitner (they/them) is a Vienna-based performance artist and musician working at the intersection of sound, music, and movement. Their practice unfolds through spontaneity, layering voices, objects, and spaces into growing choirs of multiple sources. Improvisation, sketching and ad-hoc decisions play a central role in their practice. Along the sound and music I also wrote a seashanty for 3 voices. A true pleasure to work with this team 🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊 Leinen los für die Meuterei gegen Körpernormen! Frei nach und in kritischer Auseinandersetzung mit dem Literaturklassiker MOBY DICK widmet sich das mehrgewichtige Ensemble den Themen Körperfett, Gewichtsdiskriminierung und verinnerlichte Stigmata. Die obsessive Fixierung Captain Ahabs auf die Jagd nach dem Wal findet seine Entsprechung im Kampf mit dem eigenen Körpergewicht und die an Bord gebrüllten nautischen Befehle werden zu patriarchalen Stimmen in den eigenen Köpfen. Oszillierend zwischen Hoffnung und Hass, der sich im Angesicht der Übermacht dieser Stimmen gegen sich selbst richten muss, wird ein Prozess der Auseinandersetzung mit den eigenen Körperdimensionen angestoßen.
