It's late, but I couldn't let the day go without posting y'all's nephew, Bean. On this day in Black History, April 21st, the one named Jibril Yazid, but affectionately known the world over as Bean... the initiated one... the one claimed by Osun, the one Ifa named Onifade. Poppee's boy... the one we knew before he came to this realm... this is the holy day he was born! Can you believe it? 17 years old! So many shifts and transitions. We don't always see eye to eye, but he is certainly my heart. He's learning himself and exploring independence and working my nerves, but I wouldn't trade him. lol!!! I pray he knows that. Enjoy this new year, son. If y'all wanna pin a lil something on him, his cashapp is $22honor. He's an avid reader and bottomless pit of hunger, your contribution will help to feed a hungry child who loves to read!. lol! Love y'all. Fa real. #ancestorapproved #howecelebrate #beansieboy #17 #SUNshine

DAY 14: Sunni Patterson is a powerful voice of New Orleans whose poetry carries the rhythm, spirit, and ancestral memory of the city. A poet, educator, and cultural activist, Sunni has spent decades using spoken word to honor Black womanhood, community healing, and the sacred history of our people. Her work is deeply rooted in New Orleans tradition, blending spirituality, resistance, and love in a way that feels both intimate and revolutionary. Whether she is performing at community gatherings, leading workshops, or standing in moments of remembrance, Sunni creates space for truth and restoration. During Black History Month, we celebrate her as a living vessel of culture, a woman who reminds us through her words that our stories matter, our voices are powerful, and our legacy is still unfolding. 🙌🏾⚜️🫶🏾 #neworleans #nola #bhm #blackhistorymonth #women

Hey hey! Happy Saturday! Habari Gani? What's the good news? Kujichagulia! What's the word? Thunderbird! (I couldn't help it. lol!!) Praying everyone is well and thriving during such transitory times! We still have a few more days until the end of this calendar year, and believe it or not, there will be more souls to leave us. As surprising as some of these transitions will be... know it's all a part of a divine plan. Whatever the ending, know a new and remarkable beginning accompanies it. I gotta get back, Mama Denise is pouring libation and she's reminding us of what it means to be shoulder ready! What it means to know that not only are you standing on someone's shoulders, your shoulders must be strong for another! We're here until 1pm. Come bring the babies. It's Kwanzaa time! Games, snacks, free African dance class, music, storytelling, etc... Love y'all. Fa real. #ancestorapproved #howwecelebrate #howwemourn #kwanzaa #culu
