What a beautifully grounding afternoon we had at the Center for Creativity yesterday!
Our Introduction to Handbrooms class with Sarah Benson of @sunbunnystudio was such a special experience—full of texture, tradition, and quiet focus. Participants learned the art of hand-tying their very own functional (and stunning!) brooms, working with natural materials and time-honored techniques.
There’s something truly magical about crafting an object that is both practical and meaningful—and every broom created carried its own personality and story. From careful weaving to the final wraps, the room was filled with creativity, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for this unique craft.
Huge thanks to Sarah for sharing her knowledge and guiding us through this beautiful process—and to everyone who joined us and made the afternoon so memorable!

Is beading something you've always wanted to try?
Learn the basics of the popular brick stitch beading technique with Sarah of @sunbunnystudio in her beaded earring class at Camp Craftaway.
During class you'll learn the foundations of brick stitch, following a pattern, and creating a pattern of your own through demonstration and hands on practice. You can expect to finish one earring during class and take home a full kit that includes the materials and instructions necessary to complete the pair on your own time. Open to all beginners, however, students should feel comfortable working with very small materials.

Calling all interested broom makers! This Camp Craftaway class is for you.
Sarah of @sunbunnystudio is joining us to share how to create a turkey wing hand broom with a decorative top woven from broomcorn stalks.
This class is suitable for beginners who are brand new to broom making as well as those who have previously learned hand broom basics and would like to add a new technique to their weaving repertoire. You will leave with a completed hand broom ready for everyday use and display. Please be aware that broom making is a physical task and moderate hand strength is recommended.

Highlights from the past year!
I’m continually surprised and grateful for the connections and growth that come my way through this micro biz. Fitting it all in, especially in the whirlwind of being home with a toddler, feels like a wild ride some days. But it’s so fun and has become sort of an anchor within the whirlwind too. Looking back at all the experiences I’ve had from meeting new people and seeing new places has me especially excited for the year ahead.
Big big thanks to everyone that has supported me this year, whether hosting me for a workshop, taking a class, buying a broom, or just following along. I feel like I’m bursting at the seams with creative ideas and can’t wait to share them in the coming year.
Spent the morning getting all set up for the @cultusbaygardens Winter Arts and Crafts Market out on Whidbey Island. Happening November 28th, 29th, and 30th (that’s this weekend!!) and December 6th and 7th from 10am - 4pm. I’ve got a selection of floor brooms, cobwebbers, hand brooms, and pot scrubbers available.
Mary’s gardens are so dreamy and she curates such a special line up of makers for her markets. If you’re in the Seattle area, it’s well worth the trip out to Whidbey - today took me just over an hour to get out there, and half of that was a magical winter ferry ride.
I’ll be at the market in person on December 6th and 7th. Come chat brooms with me and pick up something special and unique!
I’m slowly unpacking and getting back to my regularly scheduled program after an incredible weekend at the WonderSpace Maker Retreat. I’m working on a fun reel to show you all of the creativity and just generally the best vibes that we had going all weekend long. But for now, here are just a couple of the beautiful projects that came out of the retreat.
@oliviasua , @mcreativej , and @sunnbunnystudio were all such patient, kind and clear teachers and their classes were big hits. @pidgepost ran a really lovely and calming yoga session on Saturday morning that set a great tone for the day.
Thank you to everyone who lent a hand and to everyone who came and participated! I feel so honored that so many wonderful people chose to spend this special time with me.
