👻 Happy Release Day 👻 Marakame” or “mara’akame” means “who knows” or “who sees”. I realized not long ago that I’ve been grieving for the past two years, starting while I was working on this album. Since I was a kid, I felt that I could communicate with the other side. This project intends to explore my relationship with people who have passed... Trust the world and synchronicities - i can’t thank enough to all the people involved in this project but I want to express my gratitude and admiration to Jarred / @djplead for trusting me and encourage me to believe in myself and in my music and for all the support and great work along the process of this project. @sumactrac is my home now and it could not be better. For the remixes, two of my favorite artists, who I identify with in different ways, added the last two pieces of this puzzle named Marakame to fully complete this album. @sietecatorce has influenced me since I started taking music seriously. I think we both have this broken polyrhythmic tendency, and it seems we both also love percussion, textures, and playing with tempo. On the other hand, @cassius_select is one of those artists whose music is always present in my mixes and DJ playlists. When we met in person this past year here in NYC, I wanted to let him know that his music is something you are stuck with, but in a good way, like something you can rely on, something you trust. It’s the dark texture of his work and his use of vocals that makes me feel we are speaking the same language: this wordless other side. *ANNOUNCEMENT* We’re thrilled to announce Air Max ‘97 on the line up for this Sunday’s show. Due to unforeseen circumstances LAVURN is unable to make it to Australia to perform for Windchill+. Presenting a one-off live performance Air Max ‘97 weaves ambient textures, harmonies and loops that reference his history deconstructing and extending on club music through a new work. Dutch born, Aotearoa raised and now residing on Gadigal land, Air Max ‘97 is a singular artist in the electronic music ecosystem. His restless dancefloor focused productions explore the nexus of rhythm and sound design, unbothered by tempo or genre constraints. His recent output includes a string of releases on his own label DECISIONS, an appearance on fabric Originals’ compilation “SELECTS I”, acclaimed 12-inch singles on Batu's Timedance label, as well as collaborative EPs as Loppy B with SCAM and A2A with Aya. Reknowned for whipping up frothy dancefloors the world over, Air Max ‘97 is a magnetic presence as a DJ. His sets work out body and mind, serving high energy, bass rich club gear with a generous dose of playful left turns. 2024 is the year Air Max ‘97 turns into the light. Also catch synth experimentalist Nina Buchanan, dubbed-out song and sparse electronic percussion from Melbourne’s YL HOOI and Brisbane’s FATSHAUDI, known for her emotional, deconstructed Soundcloud anthems. Sunday, 9 Jun @ 8pm. Link in bio. We can’t wait to see you 🌨️

Trackwork and Sumac associates, the nights are only getting colder so we are thrilled to invite you to share an evening with us at the stunningly renovated Machine Hall for Vivid Sydney 2024. +WINDCHILL is an evening that pushes the limits of RnB, electronic music, live instrumentation and visuals, featuring a roster of artists renowned for their experimental and genre-defying sounds - Sunday, 9 Jun @ 8pm. Known for his bass-heavy club anthems as Cassius Select and collaborations with Daemon & Vv Pete, LAVURN will combine songs from his emotionally charged, self-titled album with new visual works for his debut live performance. NINA BUCHANAN, our latest addition to the lineup, works across club, analogue synth experimentation and classical music to create rich emotional landscapes, oscillating between the ecstatic and the melancholic. Renowned for her powerful live performances, Nina channels the intensity and euphoria of dance music while shedding its usual linearity, a reflection of her own particular methodology of constructing sounds and arrangements. Also catch dubbed-out song and sparse electronic percussion from Melbourne’s YL HOOI and Brisbane’s FATSHAUDI, known for her emotional, deconstructed Soundcloud anthems. Link in bio. We can’t wait to see you 🌨️ _______ Presented as part of @vividsydney Supported by @cityofsydney Poster Design w @elliotshields Background Photography by @jabeel_ Curated by Trackwork & Sumac

Phoenix is proud to premiere documentation from Will to Zero, a performance work by producer LAVURN (@cassius_select / Fake) in collaboration with Lenny Gitonga that debuted at Phoenix Central Park in Sydney last year. The first of three videos from the work, visualising a new single from LAVURN’s eponymous album, “+WINDCHILL” takes inspiration from the bitterness of a gale. Coldness as a flourish, a function of solitude. The lyrics were written as a series of interlinking adlibs to unwritten verses, as if the vocals are analogous to windchill factor, drifting and blowing across the beat before subsiding. The video for “+WINDCHILL”, directed by @j__elphick , captures Lavurn’s descent down Phoenix’s grand staircase as he drawls his innermost thoughts over surgically programmed drums and haunting melodic fragments. Will to Zero is a sustained creative framework shared by LAVURN and Lenny Gitonga where the artists draw on synergies between sound, architecture and movement as tools for world building. At Phoenix, the project took expression in what appeared to be a dystopian futurist wreckage, of reflections, conduits, and shards. Combat Language is the second single from LAVURN’s album. It was one of the first songs we heard when we began putting this together and is one of our favourites. Link up top. It’s important to mention Combat Language contains a sample from a very inspirational song by @camelia.97 “can i help myself should i do my own thing should i trust myself should i wear my own wings give me two bottles of oil yeh ive been too caught up in all ur curves i watch your lips move but i can’t hear but im not there your lips so come into a new flood i miss u now its mano y mano yeh im locked in a condo scribbling nonesense on these walls call it liquid re-model i seen two heavens so what’s your price second by second i push the line im not that ghost swayze for ur life baby 4 ur lyf”
