This one started as a rough idea last November in my cozy studio in The Hague, just before a flight back to the States.
I told myself I’d finish it when I returned to Europe — but I couldn’t get it out of my head. So I rented a room at Pirate Studios in Silver Lake, Los Angeles for a day and rolled out the arrangement.
The deeper elements came later — contrasting the full-on horns and chopped-up vocals — and it was finally finished in San Francisco in headphones.
An updated take on a classic early-2000s liquid sound, shaped across three cities.
