It takes a seismic event for me to show my actual face on here and I reckon this constitutes that.
Last month I was in London for the @sesexplore Oscars of Explorations where I got to witness some truly remarkable people being recognised.
I was also extremely fortunate to be awarded the Neville Shulman Award for Adventure Filmmaking. Neville is a seasoned adventurer, author, devotee of the arts and casual advisor to his friend Ridley Scott. To be supported by such a man in my endeavours is truly humbling.
To which; the point. This award is funding a trip back to Uganda to spend time filming in the Rwenzori with the mountain guides who call the region home, looking at the impacts of climate change on the glaciers there. Drop me a line if you want to hear more .

A Hollywood actress, a former footballer dressed as the Joker and a baby cow walk into a bar ā¦
ā¦. And by bar I mean showreel.
Which goes to show how random my job is.
Anyway, hereās a 2min distillation of some of the things Iāve worked on in new showreel.
Thanks to the folk whoāve booked me in the past (tagged with gratitude) and if any of the rest of you want to book me in the future, DM away. Or just share this post so others who might be looking for a friendly supplier can see it.
Finally. letās play a game; if you want. If you spot someone you know (personally or famous folk), tag them in the comments, and weāll see how many you get.
Cheers to ā25

This wouldnāt normally make a grid post, but itās probably as important as anything else I could post.
The temptation as a freelancer is to act like a hyena at a carcass, taking on as much work as your stomach can hold, but that is profit at what cost? A few days spend camping with the boys isnāt much out of my schedule (I can just catch up at night) but it will form lifelong memories for them, as it has for me when I went off at their age in an old @vango.outdoor Force10.
So, having been recommended a podcast by @getafterit_nashy where @jesseitzler lays out his system for blocking in family time alongside work, this year Iāve been slotting in non-negotiable time away with the family.
And they feckinā loved it. Yes, this year was all civilised campsites, but they are young and there is plenty time to teach them about the art of the āshovel recceā.
Also Ollie is the @francis_bourgeois43 of @calmacferries so that was an easy win too.
Was archiving footage the other day and came across this stuff I shot for the 6 Nations promos through Dear Green Productions. Cheers to @danny_film for having me along.
Fun times. Fair play to these lads, having to do the stupid shit I asked of them.
Special credit to @pierraschoemies for going truly above and beyond šš«”
Itās not often you feel history in the making and this may not seem obviously historic at first glance. However for the women who have been absolutely putting their heart, sole and ribcages into playing for Scotland and building the womenās game for the last decade or so, I suspect running out onto the pitch at the big house with Faithless pumping, the crowds jumping and the pyro blasting out enough heat to singe the eyebrows of a man at 200 paces was the culmination of a lifetimeās work. āØāØI knew it was important to be there, and for my rugby daft son to be there. Iām afraid the result was always a forgone conclusion. England demonstrated why they havenāt lost a game in 35 matches. They ran hard, passed with width, defended ferociously and @elliekildunne did Ellie Kildunne things. āØ
But for the 30000 people in that stadium, the peak of the day always felt like the moment that both teams stepped on the pitch. I may be projecting the narrative in my head onto the scenes I witnessed, but it genuinely felt like a unified crowd of fans just roaring in support of seeing their womenās teams take their rightful place on the biggest stage.
Oh and what a try from @rhonalloyd , assisted by @itschloerollie . That was a worldy of a try.
I love sport
Few days off for Easter, did a trip to York. What a city. Like Bath, everywhere you look there are multiple eras of architecture in one frame. Not least of all, the Minster.
Took a spare camera body with the Minolta 35-70 vintage lens. Great to just have it slung across my back in case a little vignette pops up.
Yes I took iPhone snaps too, but very much enjoying deliberate, intentional holiday albums these days. Now to get my 35mm film camera repaired and weāre really cooking.
Iāve been back a month and itās time to crack out the hard drive.
Catching up on family time and the actual day job took precedence for the past four weeks. But also, I wanted to try and forget a few things from the trip, to remove recency and familiarity bias. Now when I go back to the interviews, I can view them a bit more objectively.
Iāve also had time to get over the things that didnāt go to plan and take what I do have at face value .
So, time to cut a sizzle reel and try and find a sponsor for the post production ā¦. so if any of you work for a socially responsible company with a solid marketing budget, youāre my new best friend.

Turns out it was worth buying proper kit (and never upgrading my phone) ā¦. who knew?!
Not that itās worth this much now. My 70-200 lens has had a decade of abuse. But it works for a clickbait-esque hook or whatever they call it

A few frames out of camera from a@day spent filming with Patience, a climate change activist whose life was directly affected by climate change and environmental degradation, when wetlands were reclaimed to build factories, leaving no scope for water run off. In the more extreme rain events which followed, her home was flooded and her best friend drowned. Now she campaigns on the world stage about the impact of climate change on Uganda.
