Award-winning design project demonstrates why community is essential for driving meaningful change 🤝
Some places don't just talk about change – they make it happen.
@thoravej29 is one of them.
In Copenhagen's Nordvest district, over 150 people collaborate across art, social innovation, politics, sustainability, and digital development. It's a community that actively breaks down silos and builds on knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and a shared ambition to make a positive difference ✨
The building reflects the same story. Built with 95% reused materials, it is designed around transparency – both in its physical structure and in the way people work together every day.
The award comes at a moment when projects like this matter more than ever. According to a recent study from the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, 68% of Danes doubt that their descendants will have a better life than they do today.
🏆 The jury says:
"Thoravej 29 stands as a holistic example of how design, courage, and collective vision can shape physical spaces and drive societal transformation. Home to more than 150 people across various disciplines, the space is united by a shared manifesto that rejects passivity in favor of collaboration and measurable impact. The building embodies these values through its use of 95% reused materials, where ceilings become stairs and facades become floors in a truly circular architectural approach."
