Explore stitching, mending, assemblage, and mixed media in this thoughtful eight-week course. Under the guidance of artist Theresa Buffo, students will engage in slow making and material exploration, creating a series of small works that reflect both traditional and experimental textile practices.

The class emphasizes process over perfection while building confidence in hand stitching and composition, culminating in a handmade book or collage that brings together a wide range of materials and techniques. Open to all levels, with tools and materials included.

SloStitch is coming to Edgehill Library! Join COOP member Theresa Buffo (@studiobuffo11 ) for a special workshop on making a quilted patch. No experience needed or materials to gather––just show up and stitch.
This is a chance to slow down, learn a simple and satisfying skill, and make something with your hands. All supplies are provided by the library. Great for all skill levels, whether you’re a longtime fiber lover or have never picked up a needle.

Today we’re featuring work from Theresa Buffo (@studiobuffo11 ): COOP Member, organizer of Slo/Stitch, and one of the artists whose work will be on display.
“I combine fabrics, yarn, ribbons, fabric and leather, as embellishments, layering paint on pattern. With a background in fashion product design, stitching, folding, and unraveling are natural extensions to the painted surface. Nostalgia, potential, security, as well as consumerism as the antithesis of craft are themes I investigate in my work. The beauty of the wild natural world that surrounds us, once durable but changing daily, serves as both influence and motivation.”
