These kids are just incredible. In 10 weeks they wrote an amazing script, build their stage props and costumes and performed in front of an audience of family and friends at Warooka Hall. Now we are getting ready for Term 2. Term 2 art classes will be on Tuesdays nights at @ballara.retreat starting in Week 3. Stay tuned for some awesome Art Kids creations. Please get in contact if you think your child would be keen to get involved. ♥️🎨🧑🏼‍🎨 Jasmine

Yorke Peninsula representing alongside @toxic.surf tonight. These legends! Thank you Michael & @stcolumbasmemorial_yorketown for providing the transport for our YP lanterns to the event. So great to have Michael, Helen & Lylah along and being a part of it. From @sypsounds to @pointturton.southaustralia to @limegreenfest . Sally has had an adventure. New connections made and many conversations had. Thanks to @countryarts_sa for supporting our regional artists to be involved in this cross-regional initiative.

Stunning photos of lantern Sally captured by @lochiecameronphoto . A tribute to our ocean friends lost through the recent bloom event on Southern Yorke Peninsula. Such an emotional and beautiful response to gather together in grief and hope. Sally was made by the community at the @sypsounds youth event last weekend, and after taking a dip at Pt Turton she will carry on to Adelaide to participate in the @toxic.surf project at @limegreenfest this Saturday. Thank you Molly and Zoe for making this happen, and thank you Mark and Tony for sharing your lantern skills with our local artists. We are putting them to good use. Thanks also to @regionalartsaustralia @countryarts_sa for funding support to make it possible.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining us at Point Turton last night. The kids were so beautiful scurrying under Sally like she was Mr Ray the school bus from Finding Nemo. 🥰 A lovely family that had come to visit the real Sally and friends without realising the tragedy we have faced as a coastal community were blown away by the opportunity to see our community’s response and be involved. The young girls braved the cool water to take Sally for a swim and it was the inspiration we needed to spark hope. You could feel the energy. 🌊 Stingrays have been spotted recently in waters near Corny Point so we hope it won’t be too long until some return here. Sally will now make her journey to the Climate Action event @limegreenfest this Saturday to join @toxic.surf lanterns from other bloom affected regions. Coming together with marine scientists and others to move forward and see what can be done to fix this disaster and stop it from spreading. Funding for help our region connect with this project was provided by @regionalartsaustralia @countryarts_sa

Join us tonight at Pt Turton Jetty from 6pm to honour our ocean friends. Bask in the light of Sally the Stingray lantern as she is carried as a symbol of hope, grief, connection and care for our sea. At @sypsounds on Sunday many people collaborated to build a beautiful big smooth ray representing Sally the Stingray from Point Turton. Making her was a wonderful opportunity to talk about grief and hope for our oceans in the face of what we have witnessed amidst the algal bloom along our coastline. Her journey doesn’t end here either. She will be travelling from Yorke Peninsula to meet with other lanterns built by communities also facing the same challenges as part of the @toxic.surf project. Presenting at @limegreenfest on this Saturday night and giving a voice to our collective grief and hope in a cross-regional setting. Thank you to @countryarts_sa @regionalartsaustralia for quick response project funding. Thanks to @yorkepeninsulacouncil , @sypsounds team and @pointturton Progress @pointturton.southaustralia for their support. Thanks to official photographer and citizen scientist @lochiecameronphoto and local artists @rachelleplazerianoart and @jasonswales_artist for helping me work with the community to make this beauty.

Join us tomorrow at @sypsounds , Yorketown Sports Club (11am–5pm) to help create a large stingray lantern. An arts response to the stingrays and other marine life lost along our coastline due to the algal bloom. This is a space to come together, to acknowledge loss, and to share both grief and hope through making. No experience needed, just bring yourself and the kids and get involved. Then follow the stingray’s journey as it travels on, joining lanterns from other algae-affected communities with @toxic.surf in a powerful parade at Lime Green Music Festival next weekend. Build with us. Walk with us. Hope with us. 🦈🐠🌊 Funding for arts project by @countryarts_sa @regionalartsaustralia
