EXPLORING FUTURE CAREERS IN CONSTRUCTION // 🔨 Our Trade Futures students took part in Master Builders SA ‘Born to Build’ program activities. The session gave students a real taste of the construction industry through a range of hands-on activities, including mini door-hanging, plumbing challenges, and assembling a mini staircase. Working in pairs, students put their skills to the test, collaborated with classmates, and even took part in some friendly competitions for prizes! Born to Build is all about helping students explore career pathways in the building and construction industry, especially those still deciding their future. It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain practical insight, build confidence, and consider exciting trade career options. #SeatonHighSchool_adl #TradeFutures #MasterBuildersSA #BornToBuild #CareerPathways #HandsOnLearning

CHANGEMAKERS: VOICE IN MODERN MEDIA // Our Year 12 Changemakers class had an inspiring excursion to the Channel 7 News studio! They explored the world of journalism—discovering what it takes to create a news story, experiencing the behind-the-scenes operation of a newsroom, and even bravely stepping in front of the camera to read the news and weather. It was an invaluable experience, showing how challenging and rewarding live broadcasting can be! #SeatonHighSchool_adl #Changemakers #InspiringYoungMinds #HandsOnLearning

YEAR 12 RETREAT // Earlier this term, our Year 12s enjoyed an inspiring Retreat at Glenelg Beachouse! The day provided valuable opportunities for students to build connections and foster peer relationships. They heard from Seaton alumni and participated in wellbeing initiatives designed to support them throughout Year 12 and beyond. Students engaged in a variety of activities, including presentations, learning sessions, games, beach volleyball, and sandcastle competitions. In the evening, teachers joined the students for dinner, sharing their own stories of growth and perseverance. The night ended with everyone having fun together in the arcade. The Year 12 Retreat is designed to be student-focused, with significant input from House Captains and the Student Leadership Team to ensure student voice is central and that all learning and activities are relevant to the cohort. It was evident that both staff and students thoroughly enjoyed the day! #SeatonHighSchool_adl #StudentSuccess #SchoolCommunity

VET // Congratulations to Year 12 student Oscar on being named a finalist for the Motor Trade Association’s 2025 VET Student of the Year Award, held at Adelaide Oval. Oscar completed the Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology as part of his Year 11 studies, earning 55 Stage 2 SACE credits. During his VET course Oscar was an engaged and enthusiastic learner. He asked thoughtful questions and rapidly improved his skills by making excellent use of the training opportunities provided. These qualities in addition to his precision and attention to detail and strong awareness of safety in the workshop are what led to the nomination for the VET Student of the Year Award. - Well done, Oscar!
