On this week's episode, @jarrettfuller is joined by @studio_folder 's Marco Ferrari ( @mariofaranda ) to talk about information design, the politics of data visualization, and how to engage in new forms of visual research. Marco Ferrari is the co-founder of Studio Folder, an agency for visual design and spatial research based in Milan, and the head of the Information Design program at @designacademyeindhoven . His work focuses on information design and data visualization, the politics of data collection, and visualizing borders and climate. In this conversation, Jarrett and Marco talk about Studio Folder’s setup that blends client work and original research, how his background in architecture informs his work, and why he’s not that interested in the design profession. 🎧 Listen to the full episode at the link in our bio!

It’s truly a wonderful memory. “This work always brings me back to the feeling of searching for my family’s memories. I’m happy that they continue to drift, slowly gather themselves, and shine once again in the far distance.” “Blooms with The Wind Blows” (2024) is currently on view at the @fordfoundationgallery , New York, as part of the “Humid Traces” exhibition, curated by Federico Pérez Villoro, alongside many incredible artists. I’m deeply grateful for @federicoperezvilloro thoughtful selection, Your care and the thoughtfulness you put into your work really moved me. I feel genuinely honored to have been selected by you. It warms my heart! A special thank you to Fede and the entire Ford team, this work could not have come to life there without your support. From sourcing “Crown flower seed” all the way from Texas to accompanying every step of the process, Thank you to Zee for helping build the structure of this sculpture. With your delicate hands, I’m truly happy it was able to bloom there. Jamie, Kris, Mary and Lisa thank you for taking such thoughtful care of all the important and delicate details, for managing everything so seamlessly. taking such good care of me (and Farng) during my time in New York. and the Ford chefs who prepared delicious meals for us every day. I feel truly honored to be here, to spend this time, to work, to be supported, and to share this space. such a vast world that somehow brought us together. And congratulations to all the artists, your works are inspiring. The exhibition will be on view until June 20. If you happen to be in New York, I would be so happy if you could stop by.

Via @studio_folder 🫂 Our exhibition design for Villa Ghirlanda @museo_munaf , as seen by Isabella Casiraghi (@isabellacasiraghi_ ), in the inaugural exhibition “Scenari Alpini.” A series of self-standing modular structures—walls, frames, tables, standards—designed for the newly opened rooms of the 17th-century villa and conceived as a provisional exhibition system ahead of the building’s permanent refurbishment, will be reused and reconfigured for upcoming exhibitions throughout 2026 and into 2027. • From the curatorial text of “Scenari Alpini” by Matteo Balduzzi: “The works on show engage with an alternative idea of the mountains, distinct from the spectacular and often stereotypical imagery promoted by tourism and social media. Conversing with inhabitants and non-human creatures, researching archives, poems and legends, the artists have traversed intermediate and ordinary landscapes untouched by mass communication.” • “Scenari Alpini. Paesaggi e Comunità di Lombardia” is an exhibition curated by Matteo Balduzzi, featuring newly commissioned works by Stefano Boccalini (@stefanoboccalini ), Chara Brambilla (@chiabra21 ) and Luca Mosso, Tomaso Clavarino (@tomasoclavarino ) and Luca Vigliani (@vigliani.luca ), Alessandro Dini (@ales.sandro.dini ) and Yirong Wu (@yirong_wu_ ), Alessandro Laita (@alelaita ) and Chiaralice Rizzi (@chiaralice_rizzi ), Francesco Merlini (@francescomerlini ), Benedetta Ristori (@b.ristori ), and Walter Niedermayr (@walterniedermayr ) / Exhibition design: Studio Folder (Marco Ferrari, Elisa Pasqual, Samuela Borelli, Silvia Cannella, Christina Garbi, Alessandro Quarta) / Coordination: Francesca Minetto / Exhibition production and setup: Altrofragile (@altofragile_studio ) / Graphic design: Studio FM Milano (@studiofmmilano ) • Museo Nazionale di Fotografia, Cinisello Balsamo February 1—May 3, 2026 • @museo_munaf @comunecinisellobalsamo @regionelombardia.official

💿 APPLY NOW TO MA INFORMATION DESIGN 💿   Information Design investigates how information is produced, encoded, visualized, and circulated, as well as how these processes shape public understanding, access, and agency. The programme examines datasets, archives, technologies, and narratives as political constructs embedded in systems of power. Students develop technical and conceptual tools to question dominant modes of representation and to design tools and devices that foster public advocacy and active citizenship. The focus lies on the responsibility embedded in images, interfaces, and infrastructures—and on the designer’s role in enabling participation and accountability.    Information Design:   Student projects:  1. Miriam Daxl  2. Gil Monteverde  3. Susanna Tomassini     4. Carlo Bramanti ✨The Master’s programmes at Design Academy Eindhoven support students in defining their own position within contemporary design. All programmes are designed to equip students with the tools they require to develop a unique methodology and practice. While the programmes share a fundamental assumption that design is social, contextual, informational, critical, and planetary, the emphases of each program are differently weighted, and each has a distinct pedagogical approach. 🗓️The final deadline for applications to our Masters courses is 30 March. Have any final questions before submitting? You can join us at the final Meet the Masters session on 20 March (link in bio)! Graphics by @susanna.tomassini
