Sabahu Al Kheir Men Zouj, digital folklore, obsolete machines, and the improbable survival of raï in the circuitry of a Berlin studio. In his latest EP, Berlin-based producer @zouuuj traces the digital afterlife of the Algerian genre, re-engineering way-way through the battered circuitry of a Yamaha A1000 and a punk-DIY ethic of cultural recursion.

★ NEW RELEASE ★
@riahonthegrid returns with her mesmerizing new single “Soon,” the first release from her forthcoming debut studio album. Produced by Grammy Award-winner Charles Haynes and his team at Contrl Room Studio in Boston, “Soon” offers a hauntingly beautiful glimpse into riah’s evolving sonic world—where neo-soul warmth meets ethereal electronic textures.
“Days after moving from Madrid following four unsuccessful years of soul-sucking dating and shrinking self-esteem, I fell in love,” riah shares. “‘Soon’ reflects the disbelief at how fast I fell and the insatiable craving for my person—but it also acknowledges the anxiety of not feeling ready or worthy of love. It’s a celebration of a love story finally gone right, tinged with the fear that it might one day fall apart.”

North Africa and the Middle East are buzzing with youth-driven creativity, and ZOUJ — French-Moroccan-American producer based in Berlin — is at the forefront.
This new cultural force reflects the identity of a young generation that is fed up with mediocrity and formalities, and is now chasing cultural expressions that are distinctive, weird, and unapologetically authentic.

Adam developed a fascination with the newest wave of Rai — unofficially
dubbed “way-way”. In 2023, during a stay in Morocco, he immersed himself in
the scene, working with Algerian and Moroccan producers in Oujda. Over three
intense days of sessions, he collected samples, loops, techniques, and stories.
What struck him most, however, was the secret ingredient behind the way-way
sound: a digital synthesizer from the 2000s, the Yamaha A1000. Tracking one
down in rural Morocco, Adam brought it back with him to Germany, making it
central to his production process.
This mixtape is a vibrant compilation of unexpected collaborations and
experimentation — from Casablanca to Berlin, Algiers to Beirut, Paris to Oujda.
Adam sees it as a series of small journeys and encounters, where the music
itself carries the stories without the need for lengthy explanations.
