From boardrooms and bedtimes, from playtime to overtime - women run economies and errands, often at the same time. Their care is the invisible architecture that holds our world together. This week our Founder and CEO Dr. Okito Wedi spoke at the W20 South Africa 2025 Inception Meeting in Cape Town - the very first gathering under Africa’s historic G20 presidency. She announced that @crtve_development is joining W20 as their official creative campaigns partner to redefine what’s visible, valued and measured - The Real Economy. This is part of a 5-year campaign to mobilize $1 billion toward African women in care economies and entrepreneurship by 2030. Care isn’t charity. Care is infrastructure. Care is capital. We’re not just imagining this new world. We’re building it. #W20SA #careiscapital #therealeconomy

She doesn't fit in one lane and never has. 🔥 @rouge_rapper has joined the Crtve Development family as Creative-Communications Director – and is the first muse for our new #HotOnTheBlock series! The multi-faceted rapper, filmmaker, actress, SAFTA winner, and Co-founder of @tribenation_global is bringing all of it into the development space. Her words: "The creatives I'm bringing in are the ones who are going to move the conversation on issues genuinely impacting our continent." We believe her. Welcome to the family, Rouge!

You call her “aunty”. You call her “helper”. She is “part of the family”. Yet she doesn’t have a contract. Make that make sense🙃 Today is Workers’ Day, and for many domestic workers like our champion Desiree Mfeka, it’s not a day off. For over a decade, Desiree has managed homes, cared for other people’s families, and turned chaos into order. She is one of nearly a million domestic workers in this country, largely South African black women and migrant workers, who face two glaringly obvious realities: their economic contributions aren’t counted, and labour laws are still catching up. When we say “Care is capital” we’re not saying it for fun. Treating it that way means closing the gap between what’s promised and what is is lived. Pay domestic workers fairly, give them contracts, register them, and enforce the laws that exists. #CareIsCapital #TheRealEconomy #WorkersDay #careworkers #humanrights

Sam Gqomo leads with purpose and power. She founded the @womandla_foundation , which focuses on women's empowerment through leadership development and mentorship. Her story is proof that when one woman rises, she lifts others with her. If I care for you… Will you care for me? Tag someone you know who lifts as she climbs. #TheRealEconomy #CareIsCapital

A harsh truth women and girls learn early is that leadership structures were built for men with wives, not women with lives. Women who are oppressed, harassed, and overburdened cannot be productive members of society. They cannot even show up as caregivers in the way they want to. Care is capital. The women who give the most of it deserve to be protected by it. #TheRealEconomy #CareIsCapital

Everyone deserves dignity in healthcare – whether they can pay for it or not, that is what Kirsty Engelbrecht, a Registered Nurse, believes. Nurses are the backbone of healthcare, yet they’re often under-resourced and underpaid. Still, in a chaotic healthcare system, nurses like Kirsty remain a steady presence, making patients feel seen. That's what care looks like. #TheRealEconomy #CareIsCapital #nurse #medicine #healthcare

In South Africa, 42.4% of households are headed by women. They’re the breadwinners and the main financial decision-makers, directly impacting the well-being of their children and families. This is what makes @nicolettemashile ’s work so important. She makes finance feel less scary for women, and ultimately breaks down the barriers that kept women out of money conversations for way too long. Knowledge is power, but sharing it...that’s real care. #TheRealEconomy #CareIsCapital #woman #southafrica #womenpower

They didn’t think a woman could do it. @desiree_ellis06 proved them wrong – leading Banyana Banyana to their first-ever WAFCON title in 2022. Breaking through in a male-dominated space. Making history. Opening doors. Women have always had to do extraordinary things just to get the recognition they deserve. When she’s not checking on players’ mental health or making sure they’re connected with family. Desiree Ellis is giving back to her community. She embodies what it means to care – for her team, for her community, for the next generation. That’s not just kindness. Behind every champion is care work you don’t see. The team behind the team. The infrastructure that makes winning possible. That is #TheRealEconomy

Meet Mogale Mohale. Fitness influencer, father, and faith leader using his platform to redefine what strength really means. While most men are flexing muscles online, Mogale’s asking harder questions: What kind of men are we raising? What legacy are we leaving behind? Here’s what he knows: in South Africa, a woman is killed every 2.5 hours. Most by men they know. Men who were once someone’s son. “I’m raising my kids in a way that I know when they grow up, there’s no woman is going to cry about them putting their hands on them.” Real masculinity isn’t about dominance. It’s about accountability. It’s about recognising that your freedom—your career, your gym time, your success—is built on care work. Someone’s watching your kids. Someone’s cleaning your space. Someone’s making your life possible. If you don’t see that as capital, you’re not paying attention. Tag a man who’s doing the work. #TheRealEconomy #CareIsCapital

We often don’t consider how accessible our world is for able-bodied people. No lift? We’ll take the stairs. But many people with disabilities can’t participate in our economy simply because spaces aren’t accessible. This International Day of People with Disability we’re spotlighting one of our Faces Of The Real Economy, @thamimankenkeza . Through his organisation Wheels of Change, Thami is making sure disability never means invisibility by building infrastructure that helps accommodate people with disabilities. Share this if you believe access is a right, not a reward. #TheRealEconomy #CareIsCapital #idpwd #idpwd2025
