This room needs a name!
A 17th-century attic room with exposed timber beams — part of The Beehive, the pub that once occupied this building.
Sailors would sober up here, in hammocks strung from the beams. The rope marks are still visible in the beams.
The room came with a note stuck to the first beam: ‘Duck or Grouse.’ (Duck your head, or grouse about it.) To the dismay of the previous owners, I took it down. 🤕
We’ve tried The Timber Room. Considered The Head Space (lack of it). Nothing really stuck.
So — over to you. Vote for your favourite below, or drop your own suggestion in the comments.

We look forward to seeing you there 🙌
We are 1.
And we’ve been v e r y busy!
Too busy to list half of it.
In year 1 we registered as a CIC, hosted more artists and creatives than we can remember, convened dinners, designed our logo, built relationships, launched the project space, ran workshops, renovated, repaired, improvised, planted edible shrubs and partnered with Groundwork for their summer residency.
Our website is nearly here. Workshops, self-directed residencies, and stays announced very soon.
None of this would have happened without our co-directors @annahart_ing and Veronica Sekules @groundworkgallery , and the remarkable people who have supported, encouraged, stayed, shared a table, and shown up in ways we didn’t always expect. You know who you are. Thank you.
Watch this space!
Best wishes,
Myka
