Icons feed the fires…
Phenomenal night @myblackbaby ‘Birth of an Icon’ @firstsitecolchester show - I must have seen too much as my eye has has swelled up…
It’s all in there - my education via Siouxsie John Heartfield via ‘Crime Scene’ candle lit ‘Epiphany’ - so much to pore over and ponder, familiar faces…
Honoured to have been asked to perform in what felt like a live installation piece set against the most perfect backdrop I have ever performed in front of…
We danced into the night culminating with Heroes by Bowie randomly serenading and marking the end of an ecstatic evening of post show chat at a local dive bar.
Evenings don’t get any better than this !

After a recent spate of gallery shows / gigs, my last stop was supporting @baritaliaa this week at @93feeteast
It’s a culimination of a lot of graft since last July and before and also a few struggles behind the scenes too and importantly it’s poetry that’s at the heart of it all, the amazing people who have offered me gigs and gone out of their way to keep live music, well, live !
Eternally grateful for where this last year has taken me. Where next ?
Tx @ninaaaaaaaaaaa13 for the brilliant pics / video giving it that Tony Wilson ‘So it Goes’ vibe!
This Friday in Malmö it’s time to party !
I’m Loud When I’m Dead - 8.5-23.5 @___scaling___@skene_sk
Beatrice Gibson, Centrum för kritiska fritidsstudier, Rat Section, Stuart McKenzie, Lukas Danys
It is a great pleasure to invite you to the opening of I Hope I’m Loud When I’m Dead! On Friday, May 8, both skene and Teater Augusten are activated as we gather around a program exploring the foundations of communal life.
Through the lens of the festive, the evening centers the transformative potential of sound as a site for collective resistance and celebration.
The event marks a continuation and expansion of the inquiry into the politics of the party, first initiated with the exhibition Lost Vessel at Hägerstensäsens medborgarhus in 2024. Centered around Beatrice Gibson’s film I Hope I’m Loud When I’m Dead from 2018, the evening is a collaboration with the ambulatory platform and live series Scaling, bridging the gallery space with the rhythmic collectivity of the dance floor. As the night unfolds, we migrate from skene to Scaling (Teater Augusten) for a series of live performances and a DJ set.

Looking forward to showing with Gretchen Lawrence & Margaret Tashkova @11783.93086 with @mygalerina@liste_art_fair_basel this June.
Last time I was in Basel was in 2017 showing with @tg_gal at Umwelt Mode - a group show in an abandoned department store curated by @thomasjeppe1789 and @benediktwyss
Galerina is pleased to present a duo presentation by Gretchen Lawrence & Margaret Tashkova and Stuart McKenzie. Presenting artists across generations, the booth highlights how each artist examines pressures of economic change, fast-paced globalism and the eternal loops of contemporary culture through performance, music, text, and material appropriation.
