Over the last 13 years of training people, including myself, I can look back and see the one consistent component between ALL of us. We all needed some joint specific/tissue training. Prior to 2016, I didn’t know what that was, so the way I approached fixing problems was by finding creative ways of avoiding them. Ya don’t know what ya don’t know, ya know? I had good intentions, but I lacked understanding. Time and practice can do a lot, just like time and tension in the training world. Personally I think that some level of strength training is good for everyone. I don’t think that anyone needs to do a one arm clean to single arm Zercher (unless you want to,) but being generally stronger can go a long way. However just doing reps of traditional strength exercises can’t be the only thing an individual does…well it can, but they will be missing a lot of opportunity. Reps of an exercise don’t make a funky shoulder better. Determining what is missing from that funky shoulder compared to a healthy human shoulder, then training those to build those very specific qualities does make a funky shoulder better. This can be applied to a low back that aches when you wake up in the morning, or a completely blown out shoulder after an accident. The same goes for a body part that you have been hammering on trying to make stronger, but it just seems to be at the ceiling. In all of these circumstances, internal constraints are always the first to overcome-thank you for that one @drandreospina @jquintnmt That just means that wether you want to make a body part strong AF and actually last, or you need to rebuild something after an injury, or you just want your knee to stop aching after you have been sitting for a while, the thing you need to overcome is how that part works internally-the joint capsule and connective tissue. The easiest way to overcome any of those lacking qualities is to train them specifically. That can be easily done with your concurrent training. How far do you want to go down the rabbit hole? We have Internal Strength Model based training in our Comprehensive program (link in bio) Continued in comments…

I’m still in disbelief on this one! This was my FIRST attempt today, and it felt GOOD. Up to this point I have never even been able to get my elbow locked out, let alone stand back up with this bell. My current PR is 185lbs on a dumbbell, but in my opinion the big bell has always felt way harder due to the awkward size and how it loads off center of your arm-feels like a damn near impossible arm wrestling match😅 Let’s talk about my training leading up to this👇 My bent pressing has taken a back seat lately. It’s been months since I last tried any maximal weight. About 6 weeks ago I did 60kg one day, but outside of that it’s been months (probably March or April) Most recently I have been putting in a ton of capsule space, and connective tissue work on my training days-specifically hips, spine and shoulders. My volume on any kind of pressing has been the most minimal it’s been ever- 1 day every 2-3 weeks🙀 This has been the trend since I attended the @functional_range_conditioning #InternalStrengthModel certification in November of last year. Consistent PR’s, much progress on my range of motion and general good feelings on my individual body parts, with super minimal volume on the muscular work. It is crazy to make so much progress on the strength numbers, while actually feeling better overall, and not beat up. That has literally never happened in my training life. Last time I tried this bell (this past winter) it felt FAR AWAY. So this was a big surprise 😀 I weighed in at 194lbs today so this is 90% of my body weight with a bell! The ISM gains are no joke💪 #builtbybiology #functionalrangeconditioning #bentpress #PR #gains #80kg #oldschool #strength #training #FRSISM #doanything #tissueecology #oldtimestrongman #controlyourself #basisny #saratogasprings

20lb PR in this from the floor! This is 15lbs over double bodyweight which is a big one for me. Haven’t attempted a max on this since I missed 400lbs almost 4 months ago. I’ve been focusing on my hips and spine a ton over that period using the #FRSInternalStrengthModel with extremely minimal volume on pulling work. It’s working excellently! @mosesbernard it finally happened 😀😮‍💨 My 7 year old said I over celebrated 🤣🤷‍♂️ can’t help it, the gains are exciting😅 #builtbybiology #FRSISM #functionalrangeconditioning #oldschool #strength #zercher #deadlift #pull #dadbod #gainz #doanything #homegymlife #saratogasprings #basisny

Haven’t done a single leg hinge in a long time. This one really hit the spot-185lbs continuous tension. #builtbybiology #FRSInternalStrengthModel #hypertrophy

You aren’t broken. You probably just haven’t done enough training. What is lost after an injury is less from the injury and more from the amount of time that goes by while you aren’t able to load that particular tissue. Training (via loading the injured tissues) it’s what brings that lost capacity back. A huge part of my training with clients involves this process. #builtbybiology #FRSInternalStrengthModel #injury

A go-to for myself and all my clients that overhead press. Easy to dial the intensity to 11, and infinite options for adjusting ranges of motion to what the individual has access to/feels good. That is a dope combo! 70lbs feeling like the 100’s here😮‍💨 #builtbybiology #FRSInternalStrengthModel #hypertrophy
