wow, we’re still processing RESTAURANT RESTAURANT RESTAURANT!
created by @stephane.hanly , isadora epstein, and @meabh.mckenna the performance invited guests into an imagined space of hospitality where nothing could be consumed, yet everything could be experienced.
we’re so grateful to all who stepped into this playful reimagining of dining, and stayed to share food, conversation as the space transformed.
sculptures from the event remain on view in the windows at 17 south frederick street extending the work into the street.
thank you @caitfa for capturing this super special performance. 🤍
and thanks to all involved!
Restaurant, Restaurant, Restaurant!
A new performance by Stéphane Béna Hanly, Isadora Epstein, and Méabh McKenna takes place on Tuesday, 24 March at 6:30 PM at 17 South Frederick Street, D2
Welcoming an audience into a fictional restaurant, a sculptural feast is served, inedible, yet designed to delight the senses. Bon appetit!

The Complex has nourished an environment for so many spontaneous actions like my own to take place in response to existing events, opening a vibrant netwark of outputs of creativity. I was excited to be invited by @mark_o_gorman to respond to the 2023 exhibition MOVE - SET - MOVE with the works of Lucy Andrews, Andy Fitz and Katie Watchorn. To see that a place like this could be dematerialised at the drop of a hat is incredibly demoralising in an increasingly incapasitated industry. Limbs hacked like nothing as if they could grow back. (Sorry weird imagery to go with)
I think it's good to keep showing what has, can and could be done in the complex in the future because it should not be snuffed out and we should do what we can to prevent that from happening as we reach the breaking point.

Come to my upcoming sculptural performance that hurls the sculptor and the sculpture together as they revolve around each other continuously colliding and rebounding pulled together by the presence of the audience and repelled by the fragmented scenarios and actions displayed between them.
Come and observe this exploration of object and story as Stéphane Béna Hanly brings the audience through an assortment of sculptural forms bringing them to life through performative gestures in the setting of the theatre space in the Historic Pearse Centre.
Birthplace of Patrick Pearse Number 27 Pearse street is also where his father James conducted his business as an Ecclesiastical Architectural Sculpture in the basement and yard in front of the theatre, making it a fitting backdrop to animate some sculptures!
Book yourself a ticket in the link in my profile and hopefully see you there!

ONLINE FROM TODAY! (Link in bio) Documentation of Stéphane Béna Hanly’s performative lecture at @templebargalleryandstudios from November 2023, curated by The Virtual Lectures (a project curated by Frank Wasser).
Stéphane Béna Hanly is a multidisciplinary artist. His practice, which manifests through objects and concepts drawn from a mixture of otherworldly observations and fictional scenarios, is fundamentally rooted in the issue of the scales of Time and Space and the infinitesimally tiny place we occupy in both. By exploring these two perceived pillars of reality, Stéphane seeks to quantify the vast potential of human experience by envisaging an existence far beyond the scope we can currently withstand.
In this multimedia talk, Stéphane discusses his practice and what drives it, while lightheartedly attempting to tackle unfathomably vast concepts that dwell in the temporo-physical plane. Displaying the processes involved in producing artworks, Stéphane performs the act of artmaking and describes the goals and obstacles encountered along the way, blending the practice of performance and lecturing to form a kind of Performative Lecture.
The Virtual Lectures is a research project initiated and curated by artist Frank Wasser, which seeks to examine, complicate, and expand the form of the lecture within and outside the parameters of what constitutes artistic research. Artists are commissioned to create a lecture that is shown online for a limited period at and accompanied by a live event. @stephane.hanly@frankwasserartist@artscouncilireland@templebargalleryandstudios
EXIT STRATEGY - 27 Royal Canal Bank, Phibsborough, D07C3X9
Opens Friday 14th 6-9pm
Runs Saturday 15th 12pm - evening
Soon the keys of 27 Royal Canal Bank will be handed in to the estate agent who will start the process of selling this house that has been among a shrinking number of affordable homes to many many art makers since 2007.
With that, we are executing our Exit Strategy to seize the window opportunity that lies between home and housing market, when space is in a unique state of domestic desolation, Perfect to briefly populate it with the creativity of those who have lived or been involved within these walls for 2 days of art, performance, workshops and music.
As this is a DIY event, nothing is certain and things can change so expect to be... uncertain.

On the 22nd of March 2025 the keys of 27 Royal Canal Bank will be handed in to the estate agents who will start the process of selling this house that has been one among a shrinking number of affordable homes to many many art makers since 2007.
With that we are executing our Exit Strategy to seize the window opportunity that lies between home and housing market, when the space is in a unique state of domestic desolation, to briefly populate it with the creativity of those who have over the years dwelled within or around these walls for 2 days of art, performance, discussions, workshops and music, simultaneously addressing the housing crisis and the shortage of art spaces in dublin.
Standby for more announcements and a full lineup of artists in the coming weeks, and if you are interested in this idea and want to learn more about it or to be involved in the carrying out of the event send a DM.

A Domestic Art Show
14th & 15th March 2025
Save the date
Good Friday, last month, I released my latest edition of Visual Radio Art, responding to Beep Beep the exhibition of liliane Puthod curated by Michael Hill with Temple Bar Gallery + Studios and Dublin Port.
Visual Radio Art as a thing is a funny thing. Something that I made as a tool to engage with art and demonstrate engagement for everyone to enjoy to partake in themselves and allow Artworks to exist in different realms.... Anyway there is still a couple of weeks left to see the show in Dublin Port so check it out and either watch the Vidual Radio Art (linked in my profile) before or after depending on how you want to experience it all.
It all up to you

Here's a clip and another sped up one (for comedic value) of my Guided Exploration of LETS GET THE HELL OUTA HERE. The Superprojects exhibition made in partnership with Forerunner, The LAB Gallery and the Liberties Training Centre Dublin.
There will be a full video of the performance on my website in the near future.
Also, there will be a website soon
